Okay, but we're talking about wearing a black shirt.
Wearing a frickING black shirt is NOT culturally insensitive. And if you think that it is, then please jump off a fricking building.

I think some people are missing the argument; people are not protesting wearing black clothing, but using black body paint. That a few over sensitive types confused with blackface.
Even though blackface can be classy at times.

Well, when you had people showing up in blackface, it shouldn't be difficult to understand why...

You quoted this:
quote:
"This community is not ready for having a blackout Reser or a wear black day when students don't realize wearing black could be really culturally insensitive," said Amelia Harris, president of the Associated Students of OSU.
And left out this:
quote:
Harris is referring to an incident back in 2007 which led to protests outside Reser Stadium. During a student campaign called "Blackout Reser," some students wore black face paint and afro wigs.
Sounds like a good call to save the university some potential embarrassment.
Exactly.

While this is true, the FACT OF THE MATTER is that OSU decided to change the event because the last time they did it, PEOPLE WORE BLACK FACE. That shite is, at best, culturally insensitive.

Sophandros, do you think that people take offense to black body paint like the UGA students wear? Or is it only offensive if the black paint is confined to the face?

The OP left out this part:
The black face paint is one thing, but the afro wigs? Come on man.
