Leadership Questioning

Tharold Simon . . . Really . . . He has been playing inconsistent (crap to strong a word) all year. Maybe he should step up his game (tackle) and act like a leader for the young guys. He has been a regular. JUNIOR SEASON (2012) - Starter. SOPHOMORE SEASON (2011) - Played in 13 games with two starts. FRESHMAN SEASON (2010) - Saw action in eight games.

No. I was just refuting the assertion that Simon played like crap ALL year. If you or the OP want to say that Simon's play has been inconsistent, then I could not rightly refute it.

There's a big difference between playing in nickel/dime packages and being the number one corner on a roster. His coverage is fine, albeit not Mo Claiborne or PP7 good. His run support tackling will improve as he grows more accustomed to making those open field tackles. Seeing as the nickel and dime packages are used for passing situations, how could you expect him to be a great corner against the run this early?

This isn't close to a true statement.

Maybe he should step up his game

He is playing fine and will to continue to play well.

Obviously he is trying to do so.

He played in 13 games with two starts at CB opposite of Mo last year. Tackling fundamentals are the same since pee wee football and I am sure Simon has not forgot them, but his lack of effort in basic tackling was an issue last Saturday. Tackling was not an issue for him last year.

Then don't base judgment on one game...

Why do you take offense to Simon saying we need leaders on this team?

That article speaks volumes. And frankly, does not sound good at all. Losing tyran really hurt and I wouldn't doubt it that 1/9 cut into the heart of the football team. I said after the game that that game could be program defining. I hope I am wrong, but It's not looking good.

Should be kept in house. And instead of sitting back and asking for leaders to step up, maybe he should set the tone.

"Last year it was just so much fun," Simon said. "In the locker room clowning around, on the field clowning around, still being serious but still having fun. This year is totally different. "Not clowning around in the locker room, not talking outside of practice, we don't get together like we used to get together last year and just chill or do anything - watching movies or anything. That has been a big problem for us this year."

Sounds like our team needs to have a Team BBQ.

I agree with this. Could loosing TM7 really have taken the edge off of this team so much?

Playing like crap all year? What games are you watching? Yes the tackling needs to improve, but the coverage is still there. He's still our best corner. And you dont know what goes on behind the scenes as far as film study and things like that. I know that he's helping the young guys with that.

In any game, momentum can change everything. Tyrann was the kind of player that gave LSU momentum. Do you remember how he would make LT's jump offsides? That is what you call "respect".
