Not sure if Final Fantasy games were ruined because of money

Interesting talking point. I think we can definitely pinpoint a few titles that were absolutely just cash grabs, i.e., Final Fantasy XIII-2 or even Final Fantasy X-2. Similarly, that they've re-released some titles 2 or 3 times is probably the same. I think the general suckiness of titles like the original Final Fantasy XIII has less to do with money and just poor ideas/development cycles, however. But I'm open to counterpoints.

well Final Fantasy is making a 3rd entry into FF 13 with lightning as the main character. No idea if FF 13 versus will ever come out. They are just out to make money right now.

Final Fantasy. Not sure if it was money that ruined it, but there is no doubt its ruined. And I'm sure they didn't change shite because they thought they would make less money...

a few posters don't play it. therefore, series was ruined by money.....

regardless of the fact that millions of other people around the world still buy each and every version that comes out. with numbers only increasing year by year.

.....reminds me of those friends everyone has that only listens to groups that no one has ever heard of. The one who only listens to obscure bands, shuns anything more popular than that, yet has a typical 9 to 5.

If their song is played on the radio or hits iTunes, that friend will be the first to tell you that they are the new Nickelback. You try to let them educate you on music, only to find out they are listening to some weird awful shite. Like a group of Canadian ginger rappers, rapping George Straight lyrics in Spanish, recording out of their apartment in Ohio.

I'm glad I don't read much into the advice the critics around here give or I might end playing some really weird shite just to stay as edgy as they are.

I don't think COD was ruined for money. With the exception of MW3 the titles have been pretty solid. Now a franchise not innovating is another discussion.

If you include FFXIV, that was definitely a money move. It was an attempt to hook the asian markets and get millions of subscribers fast.

Three of their (best) games sit in chaos (CoD4, W@W, MW2). They are completely ruined by lack of support. So, yeah. frick them for letting those games go to shite. And frick them for fricking PS3 players on Black Ops.

As far as not innovating, you can say the same for a game like Madden that is just a roster update with a few coats of fresh paint added each year. Just like some FPS games are going to be the same thing with new maps, and I'm looking at all of them, BF included (BF4 will probably be BF3 with a spit shine and some new maps). But you know what, just like CoD diehards will by the next CoD, I'm going to get BF4. Because I'm dumb.

ETA: I must have missed the rustling Jimmies memo...

CoD was not ruined by money. It was ruined for me by a shitty customer base. They set out to please the figs and children. Sooo thats the type of game we can expect.

There's that, too. But that is appeasing the masses. Money.
