1. The Saints have spent a lot of high draft picks on the defensive side of the ball over the last 5 years and they haven't panned out. If you put them all in a box and tried to trade them all, you wouldn't get a 1st round pick for them all. Remember, the defense has been almost at the bottom for a while and is getting worse...not better.

2. Sean Payton is the glue that kept this team together and they likely aren't going to do much better now that Vitt will be coming back.

3. Spending a 1st rounder on Ingram is criminal. Forget the pick, it's gone; he now sucks up a spot on the roster where a real running back should be.

4. Paying so much money to Brees is affecting the team; it's only natural that it would. You can't dedicate nearly 17% of your salary cap on 1 player without causing a fractured team. Why? Other players realize the chance of getting a mega deal with the Saints isn't likely because there's only so much money to go around. Those players will wait and bust their asses the last year of their contracts in order to get a deal somewhere else.
Don't give me the Peyton Manning and Brady argument. Peyton will cause the same problem for the Broncos and we aren't the Patriots, a team that signs more quality veterans each season for close to minimum because they are in the Superbowl almost every year.

Let the bashing begin!!!

These guys are professionals. You are perpetuating a belief that needs to end. They go out and work hard every day, not just in a "contract year." While stats in the "contract year" are important, other years are taken into consideration as well.

THE REAL COLD HARD FACTS

1. EVERY SINGLE 'FACT' YOU JUST POSTED HAS BEEN DISCUSSED NUMEROUS TIMES - I hope you didn't think you we're coming in here to drop knowledge that was going to be a breakthrough on this board

2. DREW BREES' CONTRACT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DROPPED PASSES, PENALTIES, MISSED TACKLES, OR BLOWN ASSIGNMENTS - to say that everyone is playing this way because their leader and their QB finally got what he deserved is asinine

3. WE WILL GET THIS TURNED AROUND AND CONTEND - if not for the division title, for a wild card spot.. at the end of the year, we'll be one of those playoff teams that 'you'd hate to go up against now' because we'll be on a roll

I sure hope you're right. If you really believe this, Vegas will give you some very attractive odds against this happening...you could become wealthy with little money at risk.

I don't think this loss drops player morale much at all. We competed and played the best we have all season, corrected some issues, and barely lost in a very tough road environment against an incredibly talented team.

I think the players come out at home next Sunday night on fire. That game and Drew's record breaking TD could really be the spark of a nice win streak for us.

Since Brees came here 6 years ago, we've had one SB appearance (which was won) and they've had two (each being a loss to the Giants). And we know for a fact that Rogers came here last year despite getting a higher offer (likely from the Chiefs) because wanted to play with a contender. Your "cold hard facts" seem more like "trying to shake the cold, hard, 4 week old sand out of my vagina while completely ignoring where this team has been the past 6 years."

I think everyone's gripes about Ingram are misguided. You can't be mad at the guy for being on a team that refuses to run the ball, and when they do, they run the same goddamn play. On top of that, when they run, they refuse to lead block with a FB.

So, this may or may not mean that Ingram sucks. I for one do not think he sucks. Keep in mind that he got 11 yards on the ground and Thomas got, what 14?

Not sure about that.

Ingram = 2.2 ypc
Thomas = 1.6 ypc

And yet I see no outrage.
