By that I mean slide better in a dirty pocket or throw on the run.

At this point every team will probably blitz the heck out of met till he shows he can evade the blitz at least a little bit and deliver catchable balls.

It looks like the o this year will continue have struggles providing a clean passing pocket. It also seems that if met has to move off his spot at all when throwing his accuracy goes out the window and he doesn't like to get hit.

Hopefully if he learns to slide to miss the defense and keep his eyes down field and deliver more accurate balls he will improve greatly.

But that also means the receivers need to catch the ball and get some space more often.

We need to not cough up 2-3 fumbles a game.
THis isn't normally a problem and it may not persist. They need to just start keeping it slower to their bodies.

We may not have the greatest pass protection of all time, but i think we can get the job done even with a few sacks a game.

This isn't the kind of thing that can be corrected from week to week, while you're game planning the next opponent. it'll take a lot of reps in the spring and summer. At mid season, what you see is basically what you get from a football team. And what we see is a team with a good defense, and a lot of holes in every phase of the offense. If the D plays inspired, we'll be in every game we play, but it's going to be hard to run the table.

I think you are right. I want to clarify I think the online is the weak point of the team and I expect every other team to blitz the hell out of them until proven otherwise. That means in order to get the o on track met needs to also be able to make one guy miss and delver a throw. If that happens we are dangerous and he needs to work on this.

Dude is slow, but that aint gonna change now. until that line gets fixed he should be working out of the shotgun. I hate to say put more screens in because we were so sick of seeing them in years passed but it may be necessary.

No. He's not exactly helping though.

Not graceful is an understatement. In the SEC, he's going to have to move around in the pocket. Right now, he's showing very poor footwork (he sacked himself for God's sake!) and that needs to be imrpoved a bit.

The main issue is that the OL isn't giving Mett enough protection. The little bit of a pocket that he has closes on him almost immediately and he has little time to find receivers.

That said, I do think he tends to hold onto the ball a little too long though and he'll need to roll out more. Not be a running QB but he'll need to scramble and that footwork needs to be worked on.

One other thing that I'm not a fan of, I don't like the little blocked off "area" he and the other QB's sit in when the defense is on the field. I understand why it's there but to me it would sort of give the other players a feeling of "well I guess he's better than all of us" sort of thing. I'm probably way off base, just something that I'm not a fan of. I'd like to see him sitting/standing there with Krag, talking about the next series, walking up and down the sidelines trying to fire up the other players.

Like I said, I'm probably way off base.

I'll still cheer for the Tigers no matter what though!

Blitz!? For what. Towson was getting pressure with simple 4 man line stunts

Well, that and maybe his throws could be more accurate and he could read a blitz etc. He has a little list of things to work on besides his movement.
It would help if he wasn't working in a crappy offensive scheme with some semblance effective play calling.

That footworks not changing, that was glaring problem in QB drills in the beginning of last season for Mett, he being bad and the other QBs were better. I think Les was down on him thinking he was lazy, but that wasn' t the reason.

If the footworks not changing then shitcan the 3 & 7 step drops and go with a shotgun offense built around the short passing game.

That offensive line needs to just give him a little more time. Need to find the right personnel for the line. Matt is running for his life and he isn't Drew Bees.

He is completing over 60 percent of his passes, is in the top 5 in QB rating and passing yards in the conference.Although he dresses like a retard before the game (Which I wish he would friggin stop doing),Mett isnt the problem. They need to cut him lose and let him throw down the middle of the field, and they must do a better job at protecting him. I think he needs to be in the shotgun 75 percent of the time. Bottom line, if you asked any of us if we would have a problem with his stats before the season, we would have gladly taken them and assumed that we would have stomped everyone we played by 3 touchdowns or more. They just need to clean up the turnovers and play with some intensity.

Agreed. Met should work out of the shotgun the majority of the time to cut down on the footwork. Online needs to give more time and met needs to see and feel the pressure and learn to work away from it and throw. He does not need to be any kind of running threat but right now if the pocket is dirty his accuracy and decision making decrease but it is great if he has no pressure.

I know footwork can't improve over night but I keep hoping as the game slows down for him he will learn to move just a little, feel pressure coming, and throw with a little more touch and accuracy.

Lot of ifs but as he improves so will the team. The online will get better when they don't see so many stacked boxes.
