IMO -- We have had serious issues since Jimbo left for Tallahassee. Even as good as we were in 2007, plays were coming in late, WRs had trouble lining up leading to tons of formation penalties ... there were signs of concern. If I recall, in '07, Crowton was still running Jimbo's offense.

We all know how ugly the Lee/Jefferson years were .. Tons of talent squandered with bad QB play and poor execution ... Week after week of head scratching results, wondering when it would finally click and all of that talent would start to produce results. In all of my years of playing and watching football, I have never seen such a successful and winning team struggle so much with moving the football consistently. Poor QB play --- that was the narrative. "Can't move the ball when your QBs are so limited"

Now, finally with Jefferson/Lee in the rear view mirror, and a QB under center that is purported to be "NFL ready", how can we still continue to struggle? Poor OLine play -- this is the new narrative. "Can't move the ball when your OLine can't block and protect the QB"

I think it's time to place the blame squarely where it lies. Our offensive coaching is truly offensive. I'm not saying that we need Jimbo back, but what I am saying is that we have struggled offensively since he left. 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and now into 2012. We are now into our 5th consecutive season of problems moving the football. The talent is there, at least as far as rankings go, so what's the problem?

IMO, Miles should get a lot of credit for continuing to win so much despite such an inept offense. Honestly, I don't know how he does it, but you have to tip your hat to him. Now, for me, the real question is ... Why do we have to struggle on Offense? Is this how it has to be? Why? We have recruited plenty enough talent to move the football.

From where I sit, it's a total lack of competence at the OC spot. Anybody disagree? What say the rant?

I like to keep things simple.

The LSU offense has been very bad for the last several years. The blame can be attributed to the one or a combination of the following:
A) The players
They are either not motivated, dont know what
to do or they are not good enough. Take your
pick but these are all the responsibility of
the coaching staff.

B) Coaching
Either the scheme is wrong or the play calling
is bad or teaching fundamentals is poor or
no discipline or a host of other reasons. All
comes down to poor offensive coaching.

So the issue is coaching. Now if something is NOT working, continuing to do the same thing and expecting different results is by defination insanity.

Coach Miles had a problem on the defense, he hired a good DC and now that is no longer a problem. Good coaching.

The coaching on the offensive side of the ball needs to change. Its that simple.

Umm. No. Jimbo played 15-20 plays, from different formations. Crowton had about 50-60 run from all sorts of different formations, each with different route trees and concepts. So you're off there.

A lot of that was on DJ McNCAA. Seriously. He was he worst WR Coach we've had in a long while.

miles mindset has not adjusted from the problems of the jj/jl era. he won a lot of games this way. its an unknown if he will change before we have a catastrophe like we did on defense a few years ago.

At this point it is very clear that this is Les Miles' offense. Why should he get praise for a terrible offense?

Unfortunately alot of idiots will berate you for being "negative" when the reality is we have serious issues in our preparation and discipline. I am not sure about the whole "since Jimbo left" theory. We did go undefeated last year. But it's apparent we have issues this year that I hope will be fixed soon.

Evidently LSU is a bit thin at LT.
I suppose the plan was to not pass when spelling Faulk since we haven't seen a viable option with decent technique yet.
Ideally the RT should've worked LT drills every practice for situations like LSU's right now.

It would be good for the coaches to decide on a replacement and stick with it or LSU will really be in trouble, unless some 3-5 step and hot stuff is perfected.
'07, '08 and '11 are all LSU top 10 all time scoring Os btw, so Jimbo has little to do with it.

miles is the problem with the offense. He has great defense and great special teams and puts together a running game. AND, he does have a knack for calling plays 2 or 3 times a game.

but he does not like to run a "risky", i.e. passing offense. He just doesn't like it.

But that's what we got for as long as he's here. So grin and bear it.
