All I got from that was another sportswriter telling us USC is still an awesome team.

Finally, as to how LSU and USC fit into all this? They don't. The Tigers were thoroughly dominant Sept. 8 against Washington and thoroughly unimpressive in last week's 12-10 win against Auburn. We'll get a much better gauge of the Tigers when they visit Florida next weekend than we did from a game between two Pac-12 teams.

Very fair analysis - just take of business and none of this matters!

Transitive property can be used only to criticize LSU... Never to make a point in favor of LSU.

He's kinda right. Only thing I don't agree with was him saying lsu was thoroughly uninpressive against auburn. He should be slightly impressed with the stifling defense that played that game imo

I disagree completely. Winning by a td is one thing but our complete blowout has to have some merit. Follow his logic and our bcs blowout doesn't matter either.

He's picking and choosing which games matter then says they all do. He started with a desired conclusion and built a weak argument to support it. Just silly and funny.

I wrote him 2 responses. One calling him a douche (i doubt it gets approved), but the 2nd pretty much stating that.

I mean did these people saying LSU looked unimpressive even watch the game? The defense was as dominate as ever.

People are disrespecting the win, solely because AU was awful to start the season.. but that shouldn't take away from what LSU did on their first SEC road game.

I'd agree with Mandel in the sense that you can't say LSU beat UW by 38, UW beat Stanford by 4 , Stanford beat USCw by 7 thus LSU is 42 pts better than Stanford and 49 pts better than USCw. However, I do think LSU's total domination of UW is an indicator that the PAC 12 is rather weak.

Point is he worked up the entire article to say USC isn't as bad as some would say. Could have used the same info to argue that LSU is probably better than recent naysayers suggest. Point of the article was not to report on Washington but to reach deep to Excuse and minimize USCs loss

Yea the defense was good, but Auburn's offense is awful. They only put up 19 on Clemson, who just gave up half a hundy against FSU. LSU could be a great team, but that game was not impressive

I totally agree with that. I think for network marketing reasons ESPN wants to to protect the illusion of some type of parity between the conferences. The reality is that the team from the outside world going up against the SEC in the BCSNC is stepping into a buzz saw.

LSU would blow out Stanford and USC too. Those are teams are not built to stay with LSU/Bama type talent. Why the media can't understand this I don't know?

So LSU is unimpressive, yet USC just got outplayed.

What would he be saying if Stanford pounded Washington.

The point is, Washington is a good team and we completely dominated them

The obvious reality is that the SEC will win the BCSNC game again this year. The only conference worth following is the SEC. The only issue to be resolved is which team gets to win the BCSNC game from the SEC.
This reality is horrendous for ESPN selling commercial time in other conferences. ESPN is a corporation and has to protect their financial interests. Thus we get exposed to the ESPN Kool aid of conference parity.

Frankly, if he wants to make that statement in favor of USC, the same must hold true for LSU. His argument is about as consistent as a televangelist.

I'd prefer a 2 point win over any loss to a PAC-12 chump. Clearly they were channeling Andrew Luck against USC.

It's funny how the "myth" of transitive property has not stopped many commentators from readily predicting LSU to be cotton or outback bowl bound (from BCS Champ game a week before) soley because we played or first road test in a very hostile environment which was a night game. Last time I checked we still won that game, yet it appears to me like they are saying because we only beat Auburn how we did that must mean we lose several of our upcoming games. Funny how that works.
