JJ Watt vs. Clay Matthews for DPOY Update

Stats:
Watt: 26 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 2 FR, 8 Pass deflections
Matthews: 21 tackles, 8 sacks, 1 Pass Deflection
2 most dominant players on defense so far, thoughts?

A little early for Defensive Player of the Year (is that it?)

Their stats aren't sustainable and someone like Patrick Willis will creep into the picture. But yes, great start for those two.

I think one of the DE's from the Seahawks could make a run at it if they play like Monday night. That was impressive.
Obviously the Packers line is horrible though.

No love for Demarcus Ware??

I wasn't implying that these were the only 2 candidates. They are however the 2 guys with the most sacks, which more times than not drives DPOY voting.
ETA: I have no doubt Ware will be in the conversation at seasons end.
Going to be an interesting year for voting though, Suggs is out, Polomalu is hurt, Harrison has been hurt, 3 guys that are usually in the talks.

DeMarcus Ware adn Sean Lee are both better than Mathews and Watt

Watt and Ware are debatable, cases could be made for both. Id love to have either on my team.
But Ill gladly take Matthews over Sean Lee...

Sean Lee is a boss though

Matthews: 13 tackles, 6 sacks, 1 Pass Deflection
DeMarcus Ware: 18 tackles, 4 sacks, 2 FF
Sacks might be a headline stat and help edge one player over another, they shouldn't be the end-all in determining the DPOY. Mainly because some players, like Matthews, get the benefit of playing the Bears twice.

Ware is better than all those guys

Sean Lee is a better overall player than mathews. Lee playes inside backer in a 3-4 so he ain't going to get sacks but if you watch him play all he does is beast all over the field on every play.

Watts is scary good. He's got to be the favorite with how well the Texans have been playing.
Outside of him two sleepers for me would be Daryl Washington and Calais Campbell, two of the studs that anchor arguably the top defense in the league.

You can't really compare Watt and Ware. What Watt can do as a 3-4 DE is unreal
