Auburn game will turn out to be the best thing

No doubt about it, Saturday's perfomance was PUTRID.
If you had a checklist of what to expect from a poorly coached team,(false starts, personal fouls Dropped passes, dropped snaps) we hit every tick mark.
furthermore, we've played that way for the majority of the first 3 games this year, but our opponents were so weak, we still blew them out.
So the good news? We walked in to play a rivalry game on the road and played about as unfocused and undisciplined a game as one team can play. We were taken to the edge by an Auburn team that has 3 SEC caliber defensive players, and a useless head coach, BUT we won!
This game should serve as a much needed wake up call for the LSU players and staff. No more assuming victory pregame, no more assuming catches, and no more stupid penalties. NOONE on this team has accomplished anything, yet. Geaux earn it.

What about the defense? Was that putrid?

I also think it will give them a reality check. Make them focus a lot more.

This. It was quite a wake-up call. After 3 cupcakes you can't keep sleepwalking when it's against another SEC team.

Have you actually looked at the stat line? The only thing that could be considered remotely "putrid" were the untimely turnovers. Your hyperbole is not necessary

you beat a terrible Auburn team by 2 in a game where you kill yourself with penalties, turnovers, and drops. Yup, I'll call that PUTRID.
the fact that we had an attractive stat line, and only won by two further makes my point.

I coached little league for close to 20 years. To win a championship, at some point you have to beat a mediocre team even though you played like crap (or your star ss was on vacation).
You can't play like that and beat a good team, but it's the mark of a champion to have an off game and still get the 'W'.
And

Defense played very well IMHO.

Defense played well.
Not crazy about the clock mngt re the FG near the end of the game. This happens too often. And to the guy who wants me to list every time it's happened ... I don't keep a running log. I just know it happens too much.
I was at the game and was down on Mett but am coming around to the conclusion he probably will be OK. Guy has a tremendous arm. NFL arm. Lot of football b/w now and Alabama, but, he CANNOT lay the ball on the ground against them. If he does, we lose. Just ask Sallie Jessie Parker Wilson how that works out.
He can't throw on the run. Roll him out, sure, but teach him, Coach Kragthorpe, to stop and plant his feet before he throws. Assuming this will be fixed, Zach will be a better QB for this experience.
For the love of God, PLEASE implement a screen pass to the tailback in the offensive playbook!!!
