I did not realize that Brian Bridgewater was not playing football for Scotlandville. He has been to every LSU football game and all of the LSU sites refer to him as a football recruit, but I doubt any of the major offers he supposedly had are still good.

His stock is also dropping on the basketball side, as has been discussed in other threads. He recently dropped out of the Rivals 150. He really needs a big senior season on the hardwood to solidify offers, or he will he looking at the mid-major level in basketball.

quote:

Investigation pendingIssues caused by Hurricane Isaac and other conflicts have prevented the Louisiana High School Athletic Association from doing its investigation into the transfer of basketball player Brian Bridgewater from Episcopal to Scotlandville.

Scotlandville requested the investigation/move check after Bridgewater enrolled at the school last month. The 6-foot-5 Bridgewater is one of the state’s top senior prospects for football and basketball. He is not playing football at Scotlandville.

The Advocate

eta: I want him at LSU for basketball and hope LSU signs him.

Now that the Arizona ship has sailed, do you think we are his leaders now?

I really don't know. I can only assume LSU wants him, with the frequency that he is at LSU. I just don't have a good feel for it.

There is no way his offer for football is still good.

Has there been anything about his recruitment as of late, not just LSU related but any school? Seems to me he has dropped way down and that if he had a committable offer to a major school at this point he would be wise to jump on it before he is left with only mid major types because everyone else filled their spots.

I believe he is in denial and thinks all these schools that have been on him the last year still want him. He was saying that Arizona was No.1 on his list not that long ago, when my friend who follows Arizona recruiting closely says that they would have to lose their top 4 players at his position for him to get an offer. (They landed their top player at his position, Rondae Jefferson).

I think with him not growing any taller and playing at Episcopal high, it slowed down his progress as a player, he didn't have to push his self at Episcopal high, he's been getting into running shape lately and I think you wil see a little different player from him this year.

I'd like to see him at LSU, certainly can't hurt.

Is he not playing football because of eligibility issues not being cleared up?

I always thought the Arizona talk was his "dream" school. If Bridgewater were a legit 6'6" he would still be a top 50 recruit. I think he's that talented. I still think he will find a high major program somewhere. My guess is that he will sign late somewhere (like Tyrus Thomas) and have a solid career. If not, he could do a lot worse than some of the mid-majors in the Sun Belt, CUSA, etc.

He's not even practicing with the team. If it was just eligibility issues, then he could be practicing until he was cleared.

He doesn't want to play football, they asked him.

I guess that settles that. Are we to assume all these unofficial visits to football games are at the invitation of the basketball team?

Or of the football team?

Now that I don't know, that's a good question.

Why? Surely he isn't still being recruited, right? Right?

I'm not big on following recruiting, but I heard Ponamsky and Ott talking about him one day and they said that even if he sat out this year in football, many college football teams would still give him a look if he was interested.

Yeah, but LSU is not "many college football teams." With the few slots we have left, and two tight ends committed, I can't imagine that he still has a commitable offer from LSU, with one season of football under his belt.

I don't follow football recruiting as close as basketball, so I could be wrong. However, I think I'm right.

If he were smart he would learn to play TE. Kid is an Antonio Gates clone in body. Just needs to learn the game more. He wasn't coached well at EHS.
