Not sure. I don't think Watson's heart was ever in it. He was drafted in the 7th round out of HS and should have probably taken the money and gone to the minors. The kid was one hell of a baseball player. Got to Auburn and became pretty home sick. Ended up transferring to SLU and then Nicholls I believe. He's a good bit faster than Jacoby, but Jacoby may be a better football player.

I never come to this board but searched JDs name after seeing his state rankings this am.

My son plays with Jacoby ... as far as we know he can't play next year due to age but some are saying that perhaps there is some new LHSAA rule that will allow him to play.

That said, he went with Trev Faulk to both LSU and Bama's camps this summer. Word at school is he's a Bama fan and that would be his pick.

I'm also told he doesn't have the grades BUT I suspect that anyone who wanted to sign him would certainly help him out with tutoring, etc.

There's ALWAYS one lurking. Always. It's like clockwork.

I'll be watching Vermillion Catholic tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing him play as it seems he is the player VC relies on for everything.

I think he will stay close. Some recent things happening in his life that may change his thinking.
Oh by the way for the ones that say big schools dont offer 1A kids scholarships, i think lsu gave a scholarship to that kid from west st johns(LB or De) last year Ronnie Feist, and that was the team that beat VC in the semis last year.

Prom I'm not kidding. I'm as big an LSU fan as there is ... but they say this kid wants Bama if Bama wants him. And "the word" is that they just might.

.

I feel the same way. He's good ... and while as a female I'm not very knowledgeable about evaluating talent, I've heard others say that he's just a grab the ball and go guy. Kind of plays on instinct and not a playbook. ???

Watch out for Joey Faulk too ... good defensive player. Don't remember his number off hand.

I can tell you that our qb is a tiny thing ... nice passes which really surprised me. Just found out he has diabetes late last school year.

Our head coach played at Wisconsin and the OC was (I am not sure how to spell it) at ULL for a while -- Fuquay or something like that.

And Dan, yes there are things that have happened that may end up forcing the hand for him to stay close.

No big deal. I was just pointing out that every single player that's brought up on this board, some hometown insider shows up and says that said player is "All Bama."

I think that this kid was real close to Trev who was real close with Saban. Situations happen though and he has reason to stay close to home.

I'm still wondering if he'll be able to play next year or if this year is it for him.

So close that Saban publicly bashed him after he left early for the NFL.

It should be an entertaining game. I'm not sure how good Erath is, but that's the best team they've played.

I wonder if Dunham will be able to contain him at all.

I know VC kicked students out for having a kid a few years ago. If it is something like this, how can he stay at the school?

I believe that it is the Catholic Diocese policy that states the student (mother or father) can remain in school if he/she wishes. When we moved here I think that a girl WAS kicked out and the father allowed to stay. WTH? My older son had this happen to a girl in his class who chose to go to public school as she could take only the required credits for graduation.

That was MANY years ago though. The school handbook I think actually addresses this ... they don't approve of hte decision made/results but they do consider it a life and desire to preserve it.

And to the other poster, perhaps Saban and Trev were SO close that he felt he was really doing what was NOT in his best interest? Trev's that is.

And regarding teams, we played Erath who got SPANKED by Catholic High of NI the week before. We played North Vermilion, some team in Covington and Oberlin. Hearing that in the league --- don't laugh --- GUEYDAN may be the best team we play all year until the playoffs.

VC is ranked #2. Awesome.

I imagine they'll be favored in every game they play before they playoffs.. It's just a matter which teams will be competitive.

I'm Facebook friends with someone that Aparently knows Davis, and during the summer he commented on Davis' Facebook post..which appeared on my newsfeed.

It was a lot of BS about Alabama and how that was his "team".

Hope the kid doesn't get his hopes up, Alabama has about 7 RBs ahead of him on their board.

Agree with this. He better really blow up if he wants a Bama offer or even an LSU offer for that matter. Not saying he isn't good enough but both are going after the elite of the elite and he's not there right now.
