How is Towson picked up by ESPNU, and Idaho Game wasn't?

Not that I really care about either game, but at least Idaho is in the WAC which is a mid-major in the 1-A football. Towson, meanwhile, plays in then "CAA" (whatever that is) in 1-AA. How is Towson game on TV and Idaho game not? Given there conferences, does not make sense to me.
The real reason I ask this question is because I do not believe in any circumstance that LSU should be playing ANY team in Div. 1-AA. This is not a cupcake game debate, because Idaho and North Texas are cupcakes. LSU should not go down into Div. 1-AA for football EVER.

I can't understand how this is not completely obvious to everyone.

I agree also, but they had really no other greater options at the time. I believe this game was picked up when TCU backed out of a home and home. Go in and rest starters, get young guys some play time and get ready for SEC competition.

Towson's actually not bad as far as 1-AA teams go. Ranked #15 and won their conference last year. Likely would beat Idaho head to head.

From my understanding ESPN gets to pick one game a year to put on PPV, and they chose Idaho, likely because they believed people would be more inclined to shovel up $40 for that than Towson.

ESPNU did pick it up, it was just blacked out in Louisiana and Idaho. I looked online prior to the game just out of curiosity. It was streaming everywhere except the two states the schools were in. My guess is there was some kind of contract bullshite with TigerVision

yea i think it has to do with the contract and they figured more people would put up a few bucks to see us beat idaho vs us beating on towson

This is bullshite. Genuine options likely would have required home and home commitments, however.

it's funny the knowledge level on scheduling and tv here.
idaho was not on espn because it was the tigervision game. tigervision gets to pick one game a year. you can usually watch on espn360 but they black it out locally as a non compete with tigervision.
espn picked up towson because since the new tv contracts with the SEC every game will be televised if not on cbs then on espn (of course not counting the one tigervision game).
lastly, the reason we are playing towson is because TCU backed out on us. LSU lets anyone back out. in my lifetime and its happned a shitload of times.

They need more "worst of the worst" clips.

None of what you posted disputes my point.
They could have (and should have) gotten a 1-A opponent.

Didn't the TCU game have to be moved around because of Texas A&M being added to the schedule this year, thus the reason we were scheduled to play a home-and-home with TCU starting next year until it got moved to the Cowboys Classic?

when someone backs out, lack of time becomes an issue because most teams' schedules are set at that point.
but a 1-aa team will gladly kick an ooc opponent to the side to pick up a rent a win paycheck. not many d-1a opponents want to come to LSU without a home and home.
what you want rarely happens, but it happened in the case of oregon state whatever year that was (04?)

So ESPN can point out to a Nat'l audience that we are playing a Div. II school?
