Wrong
mixture of playing to get experience instead of win at all cost which could be considered "tanking" and of a little luck through physics. so i wouldn't necessarily say he is wrong

is there fault in my logic though?

yes. but at the root of your logic is that tanking is OK. and we've gone through that a million times. and we aren't going to get anywhere if I start poking holes in what you said.

i just want peace

WOW. 2 totally different circumstances. We got Anthony Davis because we TANKED. The NFL is a different breed like Fearthehat quoted

i'm not getting into this, like I already said. but to say we got AD because we tanked is completely wrong. we got AD because we finished where we finished. which included, for instance, that buzzer beater against Golden State at the end of the season.

Tanking in the NBA makes more sense because 1 person in basketball can turn a team around. Doesn't work the same way in the NFL. Look at the Colts for example. Andrew Luck is one of the highest rated players to go to the draft in years and they still aren't very good this year. Not nearly the same as someone like Lebron falling into a team's hands

The Hornets never tanked; a few fans did.

"Tanking" is both wrong and a stupid word to describe the action.

im referencing my argument about the difference between nfl and nba.

to make things clear i in know way think a coach should call a game in a way to lose it or tell the players to miss shots or whatever. by tanking i mean basically what monty admitted to that strategy was different once you know where the season was heading. he said and im paraphrasing, something to the extent of you change your strategy and play younger players longer and to a greater extent to get them valuable experience for future success instead of all veterans in a win at all costs mentality leaving lesser players on the bench

You mean the Redskins that lost to the Rams today? Yeah, RGIII turned them into a great team. The Saints are making everyone look great this year.

1.) Tanking is dumb, you are rooting for your team to lose (how does nobody see the wrong in that?)

2.) The hornets never tanked. The bobcats did. How did that work for them?

I honestly don't know how much the Bobcats actually tanked, they were fricking horrible last year. They didn't have to try to lose to accomplish that last year.

fine..but i have 200 pages left to read of journals before tomorrow, dammit.

when your best player is injured and half of your roster is d-leaguers yes.

let's for instance say Drew goes down in week 3. he's out for at least 6-8 weeks. the defense is full of "d-leaguers." you think the Saints have a chance to go anywhere? no. so by a "tanker's" logic, it would be OK to start tanking at that point. just lose out, right?

that's the biggest flaw in the logic. but like I said, at the base of that logic is that tanking is OK.

i get that the two playoffs systems are completely different though and that tanking would make more sense in the NBA.

texans went pretty far with their 3 string qb. chase daniel isn't that terrible i would say no. drew goes down you do not tank.

Chase Daniel has looked pretty good when he's played. so no.

Its stupid anyway. We can make the playoffs at 9-7 so its not like we're close to being out of it. So this discussion right now is a hypothetical and pointless. Plus, one player at the top of the draft does nothing. We need new players at virtually every position on the defensive side of the ball. Trades and free agency will do us better for that than the draft
