Also, TCU is based on Dallas, so they'll likely have much greater crowd support at Cowboys Stadium than they would have had in TS.

They aren't particularly good, though, so it shouldn't matter.

Economically, the Cowboys Classic must have offered LSU a significant amount of money to forego a home game.

Still would have preferred to have a decent OOC game in T.S. next season.

TCU adding a 9th conference game meant they were unlikely to ever honor the home-and-home. At least this way we get to kick their arse once. They don't get to renege on the whole series.

If we played them in TS next year we would have played at TCU the following in 2014. So you were losing a home game anyway. Why can't people understand this. This was a home and home series.

Will they release the entire freakin 2013 schedule when they announce this? I want to see who we play in the SEC next year and beyond. The current SEC scheduling format (which sucks and I hope they would just hurry up and move to a 9 team schedule)would have us playing AT one of the East schools next year in addition to road games with Bama, State, and Ole Miss and since Florida is a home game for us. The question is, which East school would it be? An earlier post revealed it will not be South Carolina, since we will play all East schools in a 6 year period, then start over excepting Florida of course. So we would not play at South Carolina until 2019. LSU should always have 7 home games and 5 away games anyway.

I like that they are doing this with TCU because I never viewed that as a good home and home series. I would rather get it over with in one year, play in Jerryworld again, kick their arse and use it as a recruting trip. Then, in 2014, we start fresh with a good home and home with a Michigan, Florida State or Nebraska. Something cool for a change. I want to go visit actual college stadiums in college football, not play a neutral site game in Atlanta or Dallas every other year.

We do owe Tulane a game in New Orleans still. I wonder when that will be?

Fort Worth, but same difference. SMU is in Dallas.

I think their stadium seats 42,000? Better crowd than Oregon, but we'll still outnumber them.

Playing a high profile game in Dallas against TCU (lets face it the only thing that could make the TCU game high profile is a Classic type event) plus this...

It is not a net home game loss if you read the damn story. We are replacing the home and home with one game in Cowboys classic. Great move if you ask me. Much better than us ever playing at TCU.

Yet people are still complaining. LSU fans really don't get it when it comes to the real economics of college football. Most really aren't even close.

Well, first of all, I don't see a return trip scheduled for 2014 on the official LSU 2014 schedule:

LINK

But even assuming there was a home and home, my complaint wasn't about the sheer NUMBER of home OOC games, it was about the quality of home OOC games next season. Sure, if there was a home and home, we can trade a Cowboys classic for an additional home game the next season (2014), but that doesn't cure the fact that there won't be any meaningful home OOC games next year (2013).

(Also, your position assumes that we won't replace the 2014 TCU game (assuming there is one scheduled) with another nuetral site or away game.)

Dude, read the article:

A report from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram website Friday afternoon says LSU and TCU will scrap their scheduled home-and-home series for a single game in Cowboys Stadium to open the 2013 season.

I'd suggest getting used to this.....the need to play tough OOC opponents in the SEC is basically over now especially in the expanded era.

It was be insanity to replace it with an away game.....depending on the financials a classic may not be a terrible idea to simply get a good OOC game like you said above.

To those that say you will outnumber TCU fans: no shite Sherlock. Look at the relative enrollments of each school and the number of years of sports dominance.

As a huge fan of both schools who can boast having a transcript with courses from each of the fine institutions, I am very disappointed. Both schools just went through extensive stadium remodeling (one more than the other) and Amon G Carter Stadium is truly one of a kind now and capable of rivaling some SEC schools in seating capacity. Ft Worth is a great city and is more in line with and open to family in fun in the south than Dallas can ever hope to be. Fans of both schools should get to experience all each great city and local culture has to offer. There is no reason to play these games at Jerry world. It takes away from the college atmosphere and experience. If I wanted to overpay to watch football on a giant screen in a sterile environment I would either buy cowboys tickets or install a 90" LCD in a slot at the city parking garage and sit really close.

This freaking sucks even though it was completely expected.

additionally TCU is in Ft Worth the only thing similar between Ft Worth and Dallas is geographical location and climate.

TCU stadium seats right at 50k + now

TCU is no blow over team although there are few teams in the nation that stand a chance against the powerhouse LSU has developed into. Assuming LSU maintains the same quality of players the score may be lopsided.

Actually if TCU is even thinking about being good next year they should be ecstatic about this......now if they expect to get wood shedded...then not so much.

I was skeptical of the article because the official LSU future schedules only lists TCU once. Those schedules are usually pretty accurate. They even list Oklahoma and TCU and NC State five to seven years from now. Could just be an oversight, though. In any event, number of home OOC games isn't as important to me as quality of home OOC games. It wouldn't be particularly pleasing to replace TCU 13 with ULL 14 or some such. It is what it is.
