My wife of over 20 years has been to about 3 HS football games when my son played in the early 90's. She has expressed loathing for football, refuses to watch it on TV most of the time and only watches when we have company over during games. Wait, doesn't watch; is just there.
Last week she actually volunteered to go to the game with me! I was kind of leery about how it would go. We went to a friend's condo off campus, ate jambalaya, went to the PMAC and watched the team, MIke and the Band come down the hill. Went to the game. After, I took a deep breath and asked the question: Would you go again?
With a big smile, she said," I will go whenever no one else can go with you!" It's a start!!!
But seriously, she really enjoyed the atmosphere.
So I am here to tell TD about it and thank the Tiger Nation Thanks!!!!

Absolutely! I had the keys!
I always stay to the end for the 1 to two games I am able to make and made that clear before we went. I didn't want to hear, " Can we go? they are gonna win. That other team isn't trying very hard. 3 points and there's a whole quarter left. I'm hungry; let's go get some more jambalaya!"

I am in the same boat. If I even hover over ESPN in the TV guide I get a groan.
I got her to go to a game last year, but only because a close friend went too. It also helped that they sold beer.

Thanks! She really enjoyed the entire experience. I heard her talking to her best friend (her sister)and she was excited telling her about what a great time we had. Now her sister wants to go.
Anyone have 3 tix to Alabama?

She must have a lot of other redeeming qualities. I think I would get a divorce if my wife didn't love LSU football.

Good story. Believe it or not, if you do it right, you can make them part of your Tiger game day experience. My wife has a PhD in philosophy and had zero interest in sports. When I first met her, she left the house if the TV was on ESPN. We spent a lot of weekends away apart.
But by slowly introducing her to the sport, excellent tailgate food, the players, Les Miles and all his idiosyncrasies, she's become a somewhat interested fan who more than tolerates my Tigers/Saints addiction.

Mine is the same way. Funny, when we were dating (mid 80's), she seemed to love it!

My wife is great about it...she likes the games, loves Les Miles and always wants to go to the games...she doesn't understand my need to re-watch the games or my time spent on TD (especially when I get mad at the tards) but that is small potatoes...

quote:so, she sees Les Miles as an interesting case study. can't say i can argue with that.
