The Redskins Literally Did Everything Right to Beat the Saints

I've been in lurk mode on ST for a few months, but I wanted to make a few last points about the Skins game before moving on to Carolina.
This is no time to panic. Not only did the Saints lose last year's opener as well, but the Skins were able to pull off the exact blueprint to beat our team. Think about it, the Skins game was, in a nutshell, our last two playoff losses.
1) The O looked horrid- boneheaded mistakes, costly turnovers, and one dimensional (We never win when Drew has to throw over 50 times); yet we still put up 32 points. (Yes I realize 7 were a blocked punt, but Colston's fumble would have been another 7)
2) Pressure on Drew all day long = mistakes and no rhythm in our O. We excel when we control the tempo of the game and Washington wouldn't let us. Respect.
3) Spag's scheme will still take some time to flourish. I don't want to hear the argument that we don't have talent. We have talent, albeit much of it raw, on D from top to bottom. It doesn't help that our secondary is a bit depleted at the moment either.
The fact is, we got our asses kicked for 3 3/4 quarters, yet were STILL two long passes away from tying up the game. Our O remains as palpable as ever, and I believe Spags will get the D together. The Saints put up 32 points, and LOST. Just as we did in Seattle and San Fran. Last year's Rams game remains the only one in a long time that we actually got BEAT DOWN. Drew Brees still equals 9-11 wins.
I know Patty, Chad, Meateye, Blues, Breeses, et al will keep the faith. I encourage all tards to do the same.

Lofton and Greer the only real players on this D.

I worked for the Hornets getting Anthony Davis.
Although the last time we 'tanked' a season, we got Reggie Bush. (Not to reopen that argument - I think he was a good player but nobody could have lived up to his hype.)

I'm pulling for them to win, but if they loose and don't make the playoffs this year maybe the bandwagoners will not renew their season tickets and I can get off the waiting list. And before I get bashed for not having tickets before the waiting list. I couldn't afford them at that time...

can use ya more around here OP to suppress the tard tide.
The everything right for Skins is very true. Combine that it took that with some major wrongs by the Saints and a loss is no surprise. The quality of this team is reflected in that it was as close as it was for how poorly they played.
Corrections must be made though or it will turn more on the team failures than opponents success.
My list is something like-
Win the turnover battle- even the casual fan knows it has to improve. -3 was not a good start
Reduce penalties- 12 for 107yds is almost exactly double the 2011 avg of 6.8 for 57yds
Diligence to ref calls- Payton learned restraint after starting his career as prolly too quick to challenge. Kromer might need nudging to be more aggressive. These refs look intimidated to me. They seem to fling a pass interference more often than not when a WR calls for one. Under the circumstances i'd put one staffer just to watch the refs, calls, and potential issues or adjustments.
Catches not drops- It looked like a season worth of drops in Week 1. Moore & Colston looked exceptional bad for their consistency standards.
Those 4 things are enough to turn a game like last week into a Saints 40+ win by over 2 TDs

knew I should've come up with a catchier name when I signed up here the day of LSU's final four game against UCLA. I didn't even know there was a Saints board.

I doubt Washington plays a better game the rest of the year. Shanahan put together a good game plan to help RGIII get his sea legs underneath him and let him gain tons of confidence as the game wore on. I always say we are to pass happy, and with Sean gone, Brees, I believe, will try to break the record he set last year and a few more. He's got to show he deserves his new contract.

You mean like to west palm beach 3x,NOLA 2x,Monterey California ,San Diego California,Greenville NC, Ormond Beach FL, and Orlando all since coming up with the handle? I've petitioned to just change to st. Augustine several times without luck.
And yes shannahan had the PERFECT gameplay to get rg3 some confidence. Although I fully expect him to be the elite of the elite in a few years. Dude is the best combo of physical freakness, mental acumen, and work ethic I have ever seen. might be kind of cool to say we were at his first game one day, despite how much it sucks now.

I do think he is more skilled and better prospect than Newton. Newton's second go round will be interesting to see. A stat line like last week for him would be just fine...
23 of 33 303yds 1TD 2 INT 75.1 Rating, 5 carries 4 yds
perfectly reasonable considering his lines vs. the Saints last year...
16 of 31 224yds 2/1 83.3, 7 carries for 27yds
15 of 25 158yds 1/1 75.1, 6 for 32yds

I'm so torn on this one. I think RGIII is the real deal as a QB. Pretty much somewhere between Michael Vick, Randall Cunningham and John Elway.
I thought Cam could be a decent NFL QB but wasn't expecting anything like last year.
