Was up on Spotify last I checked. Not scheduled for release until next week.
I'm a huge Bingham fan, but I'm not really impressed. He's been getting more and more political, and this one just seems like cliche protest music. Almost cheesy.

Sad to hear that. I liked all his other stuff too, but dislike pretty much all political songs. I'll still buy the album and see for myself though.

Well don't get too upset just from my review. Another guy I know liked it because it was heavier. Apparently Ryan is tired of playing slow songs live, so some of these have a bit more edge to them.
And to clarify, it isn't overtly political. More like "change" music, which has been his thing in the last couple of albums. I just think the messages are getting more heavy handed, and I don't find it authentic coming from him. He's still a great musician and it shows, but the songwriting left me feeling like he's trying to reinvent Greenwich Village in the 60s. Trying too hard, basically, but I won't be surprised if plenty still like it.
Edit: Did yall like the single? I didn't like it at all, so there may be hope if you enjoy it.

Did you get a chance to listen? I'm interested to see if other fans are disappointed too or if I'm out on an island on this one.

I'm not sure I like the new one. I definitely prefer his stripped down sound. This one sounds overproduced. I need to give a few more listens to decide if I really like it at all.

Bingham just announced today that he and his band the dead horses are going their separate ways. These are the guys he recorded Mescalito and Roadhouse sun with and has been touring with. He's got a new group of guys that could further the change to his sound.
I'm a fan of his gritty road-worn sound. Southside of heaven is one of my favorite songs. It seems like he's going from more story-telling and reflective songs to more produced music withpolitically motivated undertones which I don't particularly like but maybe it's just a few songs. I havent heard all the new stuff yet but I'm a bit skeptical/sad about the change.
