Lafayette vs. Monroe -- request for info

Y'all,
Okay so my protocol for betting on college football is to go through and handicap the games myself, compare my lines with the actual lines, and let the discrepancies light my path. I always get Monroe and Lafayette mixed up, or I just lump them together in my brain as a single entity. Either way, I do a terrible job of handicapping those games as a result.
So here is my humble request. Can someone in the know give me a brief 411 on these two teams. I'm not asking for a novella or a linear regression analysis -- just the basic, need-to-know information from a gambler's perspective.
You know, stuff like;
- which team is better this year?
- which team is usually better?
- is either team underrated or overrated?
- who has the better coach?
- what types of offenses do the teams run?
- are they more defense-minded or offense-minded?
- if one or both of them are bad, how bad are we talking here? Like Akron bad?
- where do you expect them to finish in their conference?
- etc.
I think if I get a nice little breakdown of the two right in front of my face, then I'll stump lumping them together or confusing them. And then maybe one day I can actually place a bet in a game involving one or the other.
Thanks in advance to any kind soul who can help me out. You're a gentlemen, a scholar, and I'm sure you have a very large and fully functioning penis that all the ladies are talking about.

UL most recently won a National Championship. Back in 87 if memory serves. The games are usually pretty close nowdays, but Monroe is by far the most storied program. Lafeyette got lucky and eked one out last year. But this year ULLL's players are dropping like flies, mainly because of poor conditioning. Put your money on UL protecting the home turf in Monroe and handle the Gayguns with realitive ease this year.

UL Monroe should win this year. Third year Jr starting QB is very accurate and with a more experienced off line this season. Downside is UL monroe always plays the SEC West teams for their out of conference games and get the crud beat out of them physically. however, almost upset arkansas year before last and upset Alabama 4? years ago. Very fast defense but lacking in size on the def line. if they stay healthy they should be a 500 team. ULL should be in for a down year this season. But one thing about the conference these two are in - its one of the hardest to predict.

Louisiana(monroe) tells ULL to suck its Louisiana dick

UL Monroe henceforth to be referred to as ULM has never had any real success in the FBS level of college football, so they talk about a division that no one really cares about.
The University of Louisiana (Lafayette) henceforth to be referred to as Louisiana or UL had very limited success until Mark Hudspeth arrived last year. There was some success though, Jake Delhomme and Brandon Stokley formed a very formable offense in the 90s but we were independent and had no bowl tie ins. Also, the legendary Brian Mitchell played qb for the Ragin' Cajuns.
ULM had a good defense last year but had roster limitations due to APR violations. They're supposed to be improved this season, most likely going to be middle of the pack in the Sun Belt.
UL had an exciting offense, but a defense that gave up a ton of points last year. With the addition of some solid high school players and some SEC transfers, the Cajun defense is much faster this year. They play a variation of a 3-4 defense that can be entertaining to watch.
ULM is playing Arkansas in a "neutral game" in Little Rock tonight in order to boost their attendance numbers to be able to stay in FBS. This is the norm for them.
UL began the season last week with a 40-0 win over Lamar. Tonight they play at Troy. Troy is a 3 point favorite, mostly because they've never lost a Sun Belt home opener. The Cajuns have a better team but I probably wouldn't bet on this game.
Hope that covers it all, bobby!

It IS University of Louisiana AT Lafayette! Please get over your Napoleonic Complex!
Know your place in the pecking order of Louisiana football! Getting in line with ULM and La Tech watching LSU win championships! At least ULM does know it's place.

That would be Northeast Louisiana University in 1987, now known as the University of Louisiana @ Monroe.

Bobby Ray...I hear high school football in Tennessee is non-existant.

ULM. They use to be a power in Div 1aa football.

I'm not sure if this thread will serve anything other than a pissing match, but UL Lafayette is much better. Riding UL Lafayette was a value bet last year, but it's hard to tell if the books will overinflate ULL's value coming off a great year.

On a serious note. If you're not just trolling the half dozen SBC football fans on here, I'd take whichever team gets points. It will be a close game most likely.
ULL is much more explosive on offense. They have a good passing game when they're clicking. They have receivers that can make people miss.
ULM has the a better D. They are pretty good by SBC standards. They can get in the backfield and force 3rd and long.
ULL lost a lot on D. They have some talent in the secondary and can create turnovers. Lots of new faces up front though.
ULM has a good QB. They like to throw a lot of bubble screens. You won't see them do anything too fancy on this side of the ball though. They move the ball down the field pretty well on most SBC teams. Slow and methodical, but effective.
ULL has a big advantage on special teams IMO. They have a big time kicker and a couple of solid kick returners.

In previous years ULM always had a better record than ULL, but ULL would always seem to beat them heads up.
Big wins in the last 15yrs:
ULL has beaten aTm, not sure who else
ULM has beaten Kentucky, Miss St, Alabama
