Washington's Go Purple, Be Gold slogan

Go Purple, Be Gold is their slogan and on their team bus walking to class. Did LSU's Love Purple, Live Gold come first or did we rip off their slogan?

I'm honestly not a fan of the slogan. I don't have anything better to replace it with. It is just a bit cheesy to me.
