Question about betting the spread.
Posted by inebr8ted tiger on 9/6/12 at 1:47 pm00
Dumb question here...
When I make a wager on a game does it lock in the spread at what the spread is at that time or am I subject to changes in the spread?

If you have to ask this, you prolly shouldn't be betting.

As long as you are giving instructions to the newbies.
Whenever there is a -6 and then a -110, what does the -110 mean?

post your picks, Mr. Vegas. This guy you're making fun of will probably do just as good if not better.

You risk 110 to win 100 (hence the -110)
If it was +130 you'd would risk 100 to win 130.
Its really just a 10% juice on a loss so if you bet $50 @ -110 you are risking $55 to win $50.
Exactly. Any bet against the spread is considered an even money proposition, which is denoted by -110.
When you see a number like -320 or something, that's a moneyline bet. Youre just betting on who wins the game. You risk 320 to win 100. Whoever that team is playing against will likely be +280. So you only risk 100 to win 280. The reason those two numbers (320 and 280) aren't the same is because the bookmaker's juice is factored in.

Just to be clear, did you mean, if you bet $55 at -110, you're risking $55 to win $50?
So if I bet, say, $130 at -130, that means I stand to win $100 with a winning bet, right?
