Practice Thursday. So guys give me some info on the game. I am clueless about this sport. What are some good ideas that I can work with her every afternoon. Maybe in bout 15 years she can be just arse bad arse as Hope solo. Yeah I know bout her from E60 episode.

When I was 5 every kid just swarmed after the ball.... idk if they teach five year olds tactics... but that was 16 years ago for me times may have changed.

One thing you can do as she gets older is ask the coach to put her on the left if she is right footed so she can learn to play with her less dominant foot.

She can be a loud-mouthed ho? jk...

Get her comfortable with the ball at her feet. If she really likes the sport suggest that she walk around the house with a ball at her feet. It worked for Stuart Holden.

Make her play barefoot in the yard. Will teach her not to toe-kick it.

let her frick around with no direction at all until she is like 7 or 8. if she likes it now, give her a ball and let her just literally do any god damn thing with it for fun. that's it.

During her practices, make sure the coach doesn't put them in any line-oriented drills. That kills any kind of fun they should be having. Teach her to dribble with the outside of her toe, she'll dominate by the time she is six.

So basically just let her have fun. Thst was the plan but I would love to practice with her in the yard. Just wanna make sure i dont screw her up by teaching her the wrong way to play soccer. Just some basic stuff we can do in the yard together. As far as dribbling goes don't let her dribble it with her toes on the ball, basically the side of the foot. I hope my terminology is correct(dribbling). Thanks guys every lil bit will help. As for as solo just not with the attitude she has.

She's 5, I doubt you'll do anything that'll mess up her game

Dude, she's 5. Just let her kick the damn ball around the yard. If soccer is something she likes and sticks to, technique etc won't really come into play until her middle school years.

Practice = 1 player, 1 ball. If any coach tries to line them up in 'positions' or tactics they are responsible for destroying creativity in youth soccer. Ideally your daughter will be playing 4v4 until she is 9 and continue to play 4v4 to improve.

I started playing at 5. I remember just sliding around the rugby scrum in the middle, waiting for the ball to pop out. My dad told me that was the only way I would score. Pounce on it, dribble it away from the masses, and go shoot.

I was a ball hog back then. If I had the ball, I was going the distance and shooting.

I am a youth coach and I can tell you most practices will be filled with games and not designed to teach much tactis or technique. At this age we are just introducing the sport. You definitely want to stay away from lines if at all possible, hopefuly your coach knows that. As far as things you can do, juggling is good, just kick the ball around in the yard and like others have said try to get away from using the toe! Games on the weekend will likely be "herd ball" but its still fun to watch as a parent......

My three year old started yesterday. Easily the most enthusiastic kid there. The drills were mostly designed to teach simple concepts like team work and listening to the coach.

Go on youtube, tons of drills on there for kids. Fun times right there man, enjoy. My youngest is now 9 and I just turned him over to the pro coaches at the club (u10 academy program). I coached him since he was 4 like my other kids...

Kids that age dont understand this yet and dont need to. Best thing to do is individual skill drills.

Purple team vs red team? Keep the ball away from the reds if you are purple?

I'm coaching 4 year olds. My goal is for them to not pick up the ball with their hands and to not bite each other. If we accomplish that, we're doing well.

Ah, the Tony Pulis method.
