What bars/restaurants in downtown BR do y'all recommend? I graduated from LSU in 91 but haven't stayed downtown before. Don't want to go to Fred's or Shadys. Will be there Fri and Sat night. Thanks

He graduated in '91 so hopefully he's outgrown this.

Sadly, I have outgrown this. Thanks for all the replies. Have a buddy who has never been to BR, is Chimes worth the crowd on Friday night?

I think it is. One of my favorite places to go when I come to town.

Right outside the gates. Game atmosphere. I know they play the LSU fight song on the hour on Saturday. Not sure about Friday.

If you go early they have raw oyster specials.

Yes, if you are with a party smaller than 4 then you can find a seat at the bar and just eat there. Other than that, prepare for a long wait for a table.

I'm heading to BR tomorrow as well. Trying to decide where to eat this weekend as well.

(other than Coffee Call on Saturday morning-which is a must).

Regardless of what bar you go to (I recommend Happy's) go to Schlittz & Giggles after you have a good buzz going. It is fantastic drunk food.

If I was coming there with a date, I might consider that and get to meet you at the same time.

I'm taking the kids (19 and 21) out, so I don't want to spend that much.

Thinking about Dempsey's, Drusilla Seafood and Jasmine's as new places to try. Whatchallthink?

Cheap arse. I'll have a 17 and 22 year old with me that may eat the table before we leave.

Not unless things have improved over a few years ago. It's not what it was in the '80's.
