First time back on the board in a while and saw this thread.

This happened on my street in front of my house. Literally. The president and the other politicians stood in my driveway for 10 minutes talking to us. We are in several of the pictures linked in the OP.

He was a very nice guy and seemed very down to earth. They were not rushed and seemed sincerely interested and caring (great politicians lol).

Now one thing...Many of those people in the pictures do not live at the house they were in front of. That house has been vacant due to foreclosure for over a year. He didn't get there till 6:00 pm and most of the home owners had left by then (see scalding hot and no electricity). They didn't tell us what was going on till almost 4:30 so we almost left too but they talked us in to staying. They brought some people in from other neighborhoods that flooded so there would be people there because only 3 of the 10 houses on my block had anyone there at the time. It was understandable because it would have been a ghost town had they not.

Just wanted to let yall know.

Regardless of your political views, that has to be pretty cool to meet a sitting President. Unfortunately it wasn't under better circumstances. I disagree with nearly all of his political views, but still think it was pretty cool to sit 10 ft. in front of him while he gave a speech at UNO a few years ago.

No doubt. I'd love to shake the man's hand and I don't like him. He's still the president though.

On the same note, a politician or anyone else for that matter trying to capitalize on a disaster pisses me off.

Absolutely. It was very cool. Lifted our spirits for sure and gave us a break from the grind.

It was fun to pick the spots where the snipers were hiding.
