Blue Bell Ice Cream story

Ive lived in Columbia, MO for almost 4 yrs and this is the first place I've lived that didn't have Blue Bell. Blue Bell is one of those things you take for granted until you can't get it. They do carry it in a town 30 miles to the west and I drive over a few times a year and get a few half gallons.
I haven't had any since Christmas so I drove over with the wife and kids today to get some. I noticed they make my favorite flavor, chocolate chip, in September but I wasn't sure if they'd have any in Wal-Mart. So I pick out 4 half gallons(homemade vanilla, cookies n cream, Dutch choc and mooliniem crunch) and close the freezer. I hear a guy behind me say "the best ice cream in the country" and I turnaround and see Tim the Blue Bell guy. So I tell him my dilemma and he said to buy how many half gallons I wanted and he'd swap them out at his truck for any flavor I wanted. Needless to say I ended up with two chocolate chip half gallons. Plus he told me they're looking at adding Columbia to their route.
FWIW, you can order 4 half gallons from Blue Bell and they'll ship it to you for $129!

As much as I love the stuff, I can't imagine paying that price.

Pretty cool. Glad he was able to trade some stock with you. Would have been even cooler if he gave you one for free. But hey, at least you got your chocolate chip

Sounds like addiction. I can't stand Ice Cream. But if you gave me 50 bucks I'd eat bowl of it.

$129?!?
Why not have a friend ship a lot more to you in a cooler with dry ice for like half that?

I believe all Outback Steakhouse's use BlueBell Vanilla for their desserts.
Yes, we went to Blue Bell in Brenham, TX and went on a tour there.

In between your Ice Cream hate & Lucy's cheese phobia, y'all hate the good food .

I've always thought Blue Bell is pretty weak. There's much better ice cream out there.

They change what is on the shelves seasonally.

Agreed. Plus, they have made the move in recent years from basic, natural ingredients to cheap fillers and hfcs. I don't get the love for them.

They have some spiced pumpkin pecan flavor that will make your knees weak.
