A Glass Half-Full Look at Saturday's Game

This is my first time getting on since the game last night because At&T sucks arse and I haven't had internet service since Thursday. I expected to see alot of negativity on here, ánd it looks like I expected correctly. SO, here's my take on the game, FWIW:
Over the course of the Les Miles era, his teams have tended to play vanilla when taking on lesser opponents and they hardly ever score more than around 50 points. I would have liked for them to score with a little more ease and 41 points is about 2 TDs shy of where they should have been, but it was a W.
Aside from that 80 yard pass play, the defense played well. The youth at LB and in the secondary showed. That said, we have the perfect schedule for them to get right fast. NT picked on Mills most of the night, which is exactly what we need. The more experience he gets now, the better. He played ok and with more work I think he will be another great DB for us.
We're set for awhile at punter. Love me some Aussie kickers!
Debo is legit, Reid is still Reid and the Freak will be, well, Freakish.
I still think they played down to the opponent.
I know it's cliche, but a team does make the biggest improvement from the first game to the second.
The Tiger-Face starting lineup was badass.
Mett was...well, he looked like he was starting his first game, too. He was off the mark at times and I too got tired of seeing the damned bubble screen. Pure specualtion on my part, but I think they were treating this as a glorified practice and were maybe working out the timing on that. I think he'll fine as well, provided he stays healthy.
That brings me to the group that I was disappointed in, the O-line. I veteran group like that should give better protection, especially against a team like UNT. This will be a strength for this team, but they need to pass protect better. They were able to open some good holes for the RBs, though.
Speaking of RBs, it was cool to see Copeland get a few carries.
The coaches have a lot "teachable moments" to draw from that game and work on this week. For those hitting the panic button, please reserve judgement until this time next week. If you fell the need to fret, imagine that you're an Oklahoma fan.
Peace and
