How much will the new kickoff rules affect the game?

It seems to me that since touchbacks get out to the 25, coaches will be telling the return men to just kneel on it every chance they get. This probably will mean fewer chances for our return guys to affect the game...but also means that there will be more chances to play things safe in tight games late and just have our kickers punch it through the endzone.

I was shocked to see the kickoffs placed at the 25. I see people pooching it to the 1 and letting their kickoff team do work.

Some of those kickers put it way out of the endzone. Amazing what 5 yards will do... You can kick it low and let it go thru the endzone at that length without worry.

I am a fan of pooching the kick on an angle and have your athletes do work.

I believe that depends on how good the KR team is. If they are good they will try and kick it deep into the end zone. The KO will be from the 35 now so it will be much easier to lick it into the end zone.

If the opposing KR is not so good they will kick it down around the 5 yard line and hopefully force them to return it. LSU has been practicing both I understand.

IMO bigger impact on KO is not bringing it out to the 25, but licking off from the 35 YD lone now rather than the 30 Yard line. Most teams can now lick into the end zone.
