Neither does it pay for your food expenses if your power goes out and you have no damage.

Got to love the insurance business during a hurricane

Yup.

Clearly, car insurance should pay for expenses incurred due to the power in your house going out.

FYI, if your roof collapsed because of the storm, you can't sue your landlord.

And your homeowner's insurance isn't paying you for a new generator.

Here's another one I just got: If the car you are driving is not insured and you are not insured, then you are no pay no player. You lose.

From a claim that was recently sent to me from the initial contact. Sorry for the all caps this is a copy and paste and I'm not retyping...

quote:

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: Have the adjuster assigned call me before going to inspect.
DAMAGES: voice to voice with #######, insd daughter, KATRINA DAMAGES WERE NEVER FIXED , WANTED TO KNOW THE OWNER OF THE COMPANIES NAME AND WHY EVERYONE GOT $1 MILLION BUT HER. EXPLAINED THERE IS NOT A SPECIFIC OWNER OF ####### BUT IF SHE WANTS FURTHER INFO ON HER AUTO CLAIM, SHE CAN CALL 1-800-####### AND THEY CAN ASSIST HER. SHE STARTED SCREAMING AT ME TELLING ME THAT I CAN LOOK IT UP. SHE HAD NO OTHER INFO. SHE SAID SHE ALSO WILL CALL THE MAFIA IF I DON'T STOP TALKING SO FAST. THERE ARE RATS AND SNAKES SWIMMING IN THE ATTIC AND THE WATER FROM THE BROKEN PIPE DROWNED THEM. SHE SAID PIPE JUST BURST. EXPLAINED WE WOULD NOT OWE FOR DAMAGES THAT WERE FROM KATRINA. SHE SAID SHE KNOWS THAT BUT THIS IS NEW DAMAGE. I ASKED ABOUT WHY THE HOME WOULD BE CONSIDERED UNLIVABLE. APPEARS TO BE ONLY CEILING DAMAGE IN THE HALLWAY AND RATS AND SNAKES IN THE ATTIC. SHE SAID THEY WANT TO KNOW IF THEY OWN 4 LOTS IN THE BACK OF THE HOME. ADVISED HER I WOULDN'T BE THE ONE TO KNOW THAT UNFORTUNATELY. SHE SAID IF WE DON'T GET THESE ANIMALS REMOVED FROM THE ATTIC THE HOME WILL BE CONDEMNED. HER MOTHER ADVISED HER MANY TIMES IN THE BACKGROUND TO STOP YELLING. I WAS UNABLE TO GET ANY MORE INFO ON THE CLAIM BEFORE SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT A MAN IN A RED TRUCK THAT ###### INSURED AND THEN DEMANDED KNOWING WHO THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY IS B/C SHE WAS NOT PAID $1 MILLION LIKE 10 OTHER PEOPLE. SHE ALSO WANTED TO KNOW RANDOM THINGS INCLUDING HOW MUCH STOCK HER SISTER HAS WITH THE COMPANY. SENDING OA FOR COVERAGE DETERMINATION.

I worked a hail storm with 100mph straight line winds in Omaha, NE as an independent for SF and the corporate's would send us to all the ghettos on claims like this

SF fixed damn near any damage on any SF insured car for that storm.

I'm an independent. When they send me shite like this I handle it without question, but they pay more for it. I get more liberal in my claim writting ability...

We were fixing f'd up bondo work for that storm....I pointed that shite out to a site manager and he said pay it. After that I never asked about paying for shite

ETA sometimes I miss the IA gig it was pretty exhilarating, but I couldn't see doing it that much with a family. My buddy working the fire/homeowner's side has been in Baton Rouge for a grand total of about 2 months the last 2.5-3 years.

You guys getting destroyed in the claim dept chad? I was shocked... Looks like our book was relatively unscathed for the most part... A few homeowners claims in Slidell and Mandeville but nothing too serious... Even our businesses down in Plaquemines appear to be fine...

Yep, same here.... Looks like we dodged a hell of a bullet. The businesses that we have essentially sitting on the water which I figured would have serious issues literally had none... What claims we did see were further inland and due to trees coming down...

So many roofs were replaced with laimante shingles after Katrian and Gustov that wind damage was greatly limited. In addition many people are aware of the hurricane deductible and don't want to file a claim for minor damage. Wait and see, we will see plenty of wind damage in the next year for small storms passing through...
