Katrina created the "named storm deductible" for most insurance companies writing policies in Louisiana.

You can still claim lost food as part of your overall losses but the food is subject to the hurricane deductible, which is 4% of the house's coverage for my State Farm policy.

I didn't know they made changes. I actually didn't know they paid for food until my agent told me to claim it along the small claim I had during Katrina.

They didn't, it was just added on to the rest of your claim. If you filed a claim just for food it would more than likly be less than your deductible...

Unless your fridge was full of filet mignon and cavier, I can't see how the hell it is worth your trouble or the insurance company's to bother with something like a claim.
