Kevin Minter quote on DT Josh Downs

"He's just a seasoned veteran," LSU starting linebacker Kevin Minter said. "He's a real smart player. Even though he's been plagued with injuries he's probably one of our best D-lineman. The guy's good and I feel like he'll bring a lot to the table this year. He has a lot to prove. You can tell by the way he practices. He has a chip on his shoulder. He hasn't necessarily been able to play like he's wanted to so he's going all out. I can't wait to see him this season."
For everyone confused on why he got the nod for the starting DT next to Logan maybe he will stay injury free this year and prove everyone that doubted him wrong!

He has been a favorite of mine since the day he committed. I hope he reaches his full potential this year.

If he turns out to have a Drake Nevis type senior year then

When he first arrived and before he started getting hurt he had the quickest first step of the DTs and it wasn't close.

I know this is an overused phrase, but the kid really does have a good motor. He will routinely be 10+ yards downfield trying to tackle receivers. Not a lot of DTs keep with the play once the QB lets it go

Exactly... He embarrassed a few solid players as an undersized true freshman..

Hope the kid can put it all together.
He had flashes of greatness as a FR.,but
Hope I am wrong and the guy has a year like Brockers last year

He may be the quickest and most agile DT ever to suit up for LSU. I think he has more upside than Dorsey.
If he can stay healthy, he will be on plenty of lists at season's end.

Not sure about the upside over Dorsey part because Downs will never and has never been an every down type DT. He's too light. His 1st step is amazing(or was his freshman year) and hopefully he stays healthy and gets to show it more this year. If he plays this year like the flashes he showed his freshman year then we'll be in great shape at DT.

Would love to see Downs and Freak some on obvious pass situations,3rd and long etc.

Colts. I think they moved him to DE in the 3-4

brain fart, I do remember them bragging on him during some of their miserable games I watched last year

He's got a lot of energy and passion. But doesn't Downs also have a respiratory condition? I seem to recall that his freshman year, we had to take him out after 2 plays because he gets overexcited or something.
I could be wrong. My memory is fading.
