I have no idea, they had some guy on the phone and all he said was 100ft breach...also said if you were affected by the 1983 and 1990 floods then this will affect you too.

TWC just said "If you were effected in 1983 and 1990(?) - This will effect you and you need to evacuate."

They aren't expecting it to go over 17' and it was 17.5' in those other years.

Everything ok here in Biloxi, Landmass. I know you were concerned and wondering.

Not sure if it has been mentioned yet, but I55 does cross the river between McComb and the La state line.

I think the main danger to a roadway in LA is that it *may* take out the Hwy 16 bridge.

This is from yesterday...

quote:

Information from Tangipahoa Parish Government:

ALERT:

Tangipahoa Parish EOC has received a warning that there is a group of barges in the south pass of Manchac that are now being held by a single line. If these barges break loose, they have the potential to damage the railroad, US Hwy51, and/or I-55 bridges at Manchac. The public is urged to use extreme caution until the barges can be secured. The barges' owner, Davey Shoring, is in route to scene. The operator, Crosby Tugboats, will not dispatch tugboats to secure the barges due to the weather conditions. The La. State Police, Canadian National Railroad and US Coastguard has been contacted and are in route.

SHELTER:

As of 7am, Tangipahoa Parish has 1,007 residents in seven(7) parish shelters and 3 companion pets are being care for by the Tangipahoa Parish Animal Shelter.

POWER OUTAGES:

There are approximately 9,600 customers in Tangipahoa Parish without power. Outages are mostly in the Hammond, Pumpkin Center, and Ponchatoula areas with some spotty outages throughout the parish.

TREES & ROAD CLOSURES:

The parish has workers in route to remove a downed tree on Mike Cooper Road off of Hwy 445. There are no other reported road closures at this time

Hope they got those barges secured.
