I just hope the replacement refs do not cost a team a game.

They will. There has already been some terrible refereeing and confusion amongst the replacements in the preseason.

Oh, that's guaranteed to happen. What I'm wondering about is what happens the first time a big fight breaks out. The players have no respect for these replacement refs, I'm sure they're going to listen to them in the heat of a fight. Things are going to get real bad.

Fuuuuuuuck. That's bad news. I just know teams are going to lose a game because of this and there's going to be some serious outrage

D Smith said earlier that NFLPA would consider a strike if replacement refs were in real games.

holy shite

I can't believe the NFL is being so bitchy about this.

These replacement refs have been god awful.

This is going to make the league look bad when one of these crews f-ks up a game so badly a team loses over it.

I could see them trying, but i imagine the league would sue and win.

I am hopeful that we get more coach's reviews of calls, going forward, due to the ref situation.

You can get them if they want to pay the fines...after a while it will get real spendy.

The biggest "WTF" call I saw was Nick Perry sacking Rivers.. Perry gets up and flexes his arms and they threw the 15 yard penalty on him.

If the ref was straight from the college ranks, then it would explain it.

I think he was.. But he should know the rule difference in order to be able to ref at that level.

No possible way ANYONE can learn the NFL Rule Book in so short a time...not humanly possible. The college book is almost 200 pages and the NFL isn't smaller. That said, the replacements aren't ready to transition from college to the NFL. But, if the League won't settle with the Officials, they are the next best option.

If the NFL gives the Officials ALL they are asking for, the cost per team is $100,000/year; which is small potatoes in a multi-billion dollar industry. I don't know what the sticking point is, but they need find a workable solution and get the Officials back...for the good of the game and the good of the league and the safety of the players.
