Phil Steele says Florida has the best defense in the SEC

Is this guy for real? He also said he thinks Florida state has the deepest defensive line in the country. Thinks they will win it all. Said it on ESPNU

He built up his reputation years ago. He hasn't been too great recently.
The guy has completely lost it this year with his NC picks.

i like easley, but Floyd and Powell haven't really done much. That UF dline is above average but still get overhyped based on those recruiting rankings a few years ago.

And he had LSU #7 to start that year, he had Oklahoma playing for the title against Bama.
In 2010 he had Bama #1, tOSU #2...teams that played for title he had at #10 and #15.

His deal is he takes a few (maybe more than a few) long shot picks so that if by chance he is right he can say "Last year I was the only one that picked so and so."

The dude is usually pretty good. But it's laughable to call FL's D the best in the country after going 6-6 and giving up 20+ in 4 of those losses.

Florida does have a very formidable defense. That game in the Swamp will be a challenge.
