Power has been off for hour and half. How long do I have before fridge needs to be turned on?

Wait until the power goes out and the winds subside. If it's a gas generator you don't want a limb falling on it and starting another big problem...tomorrow would be best, like he said.

Chain that motherfricker down, too, and lock it. If the power's out for several day someone will come and steal it. This was a big problem after Gustav.

Good advice. Chain that shite to the ground and put some tigers and lions and crocodiles around that shite. Someone will steal it if you don't protect the frick out of it

I'm just shocked people do this. People, man. I can't believe.

Truth. That's how I'm protecting mine. Lock and a Glock.

I'm assuming this can apply to icing down food too? Got several bags of ice in the freezer. Guessing I should move them with the food to ice chest once power goes out?

With ice, don't wait for the freezer to get hot because then you're screwed. Once you lose power, move to ice chest and put food in there whenever you want. You just can't let the ice sit in the freezer once the power goes out.

No idea. My beer has never lasted more than a couple hours after the power is out.

I found out the hard way! Left a bag in there once for several days...

Yes. You have to drink it all right now.

I got mine on now, because I have plenty of gas.

But am about to turn it off. I want to keep the fridge cold.

There is no set time you have to wait.
