Please be patient. Dhillip is till mulling this over. He has a lot of mulling to do.

Is this a serious response...? I'm having difficulty construing it as a legitimate response, considering that it's impractical to think that it would require months for one to mull over this particular decision.

I'm not quite sure why we can't get a serious response on this topic.

Turn the gaming board into a gaming and tech board.

No, that's retarded. Most people on there are talking about NCAA and first person shooters. Tech would completely clash with that, especially since its likely to become the science and tech board.

Seriously, they put up a Olympic and Hurricane Board instantly, why can't we just put up a tech board?

I don't understand it. We had a vocal minority crying out for a Music Board, and they had their wish granted. In fact, we have multiple groups each campaigning for their own board.

The difference with technology, however, is that there are actually a significant amount of threads created each day on the OT dealing with tech subjects.

It seems like it's all politics. If the answer is "no", then they really just need to say so.

Bump.

Random check.....

25% of the threads on the OT at this moment are tech related.

It's always 4 or 5 out of 20 on page 1.

If there were no soccer board, does anyone think that at any random moment 1/4 of the threads on the OT would be soccer related?

Of course not.

Yet, soccer has a board.

No tech board?

1) people don't mind associating with tech fans

2) people don't want to associate with soccer fans

Serious question, but what is wrong with tech posts on the OT? Why does it need it's own board?

If I have an electrical question, which board does it go on?

Even with a Tech Board, I would still go to the OT with my tech questions.

I feel like I would get a better variety of advice.

Just my opinion.

I agree. Plus, people that post tech questions on the tech board will lose potential expertise or good advice from people on the OT that won't frequent the tech board.

Why is there a dedicated board for music? Or movies? Or gaming? Or food?

The OT is a digital cesspool that dampens and buries any thread that has the potential for legitimate, meaningful discussion. If any subject is deserving of having its own board, it's undoubtedly technology (perhaps only seconded by politics).

And given that tech posts saturate the OT on a daily basis, it's curious why there isn't a dedicated place on this website dedicated to such discussions.

I disagree. They'll actually get help from people who are passionate and knowledgeable about technology, and want to talk about it.

As opposed to having their question buried by a surfeit of WYHI and LNST threads.

I wasn't a fan of those boards either.

Flattery will get you everywhere. I've had very serious conversations there.

At the appropriate time, all they need to do is convert the HIB into the Technology Board.

It would probably take all of one minute to accomplish.

Let's think of possible reasons as to why the head fowl has not allowed a tech/science board yet...

Possibly not able to free up an admin to monitor it adequately atm

The problem is lot of good tech post are gone in an hour. THey get drowned out by how do you wipe your arse post, sitting up or standing down?

A tech board things would stay up and the advice would go up exponentially and cut down on the repetitive tech questions.

I see your point and I have nothing against a tech board.

I'm just saying my tech questions are usually pretty simple and I can get a very quick and exhaustive answer on the OT as opposed to a slower tech board.

However, I understand simple tech questions like mine are not the only thing a tech board would satisfy.
