I knew the guy was good and would be one of those underrated guys coming out of HS (3* by most sites). I remember someone on here posting that a friend of his that coached at TCU stated that Mills was a gem in our 2011 class...it seems to be coming to fruition.

quote:

LSU Coach Les Miles indicated true freshman Jalen Mills is the likely candidate to start at cornerback, and Simon agreed.

He better be. How many freshman can come in a make a huge impact and help win a NC. Luckily we are set at every other position.

Yep huge steal. Wasn't even considered a top 30 or 40 CB in the country. Pitt, Virginia, and Baylor were his next best 3 offers after us. I love it

Not worried about Mills' cover skills. He can do that with the best of them.

Providing outside run support, downfield tackling and being able to play press coverage are concerns to me.

Dude is a special player in the making

Cuz, what's the deal with all these Jalen's? I haven't been this confused since Jamarcus Randle & Marcus Russell were our QB's

One more thing...I never could accept the fact that lineman Charles Alexander was named Charles Alexander either...It made me mad.

Although I have never seen him on the field against real competition yet...much credit has to be given to Les and Co. I never underestimate their evaluations of players no matter what their rankings from the "experts" are

I thought Collins was the next in line. Looks like he will grab the third spot.

I thought so too...but judging by the comments in this article by Miles, Collins may have gotten passed up by Mills

this isn't the least bit surprising to me, based on what I saw from Collins in the Spring Game.

I'm afraid this position is going to be a weak spot (relatively) all year long.
