So I have my new one all set up and going (for a couple of months actually). Transferred the data. Thankfully, the old one just went down to its second YLOD just after the transfer.

I have removed the hard drive (for future water dunking and then recycling) - if I bring it over to best buy (or any recycling station) - I'm assuming there shouldn' be anything on it in any other memory capacity that has saved my PS store login or other sensitive data, etc, right?

I'm pretty sure somewhere down the line from the system icon there is either a restore to default or a reset. Try that.

But this way is better.

You can take a hard drive out of a Playstation, but you can't figure out how to delete the memory. UFB

I pulled my old hard drive out and put it in another ps3. That should reformat it.
