That whole situation is a mess. Poor owners trying to hang on to teams they can't afford isn't a good thing. The league should force the Maloofs to sell.

I live in Norfolk. I wonder how bad traffic will be now?

Would piss me off to no end. If Rick Pitino would've just kept his damn mouth shut, Louisville would've had a good chance at landing them instead.

I lived in Va Beach for two years

would actually be a great fit, that area can clearly support a pro team

Can. Will is the question. They support the Tides and Admirals alright.

OKC has proved that NBA teams can do well in a smaller market if they're the only pro team in town.

There are a ton of people in that area. Really one huge metro up and down the coast.

yeah, Louisville seems like a better place for a basketball team. Wonder if the Virginia Beach no cursing fine will extend to inside the stadium

Those $250 fines could add up really quickly for a lot of fans and players.

Yep. There's over half a mil in VA Beach alone.

It would be clasified as a Hampton Roads team I would guess which means they'd have about 1.5 million to draw from

plus all of the in and out naval activities, guaranteed IMO that they would be very successful there. As Patrick said, they support the minor league teams they have very well, the area is not poor at all and it's sports-minded

hell look at all the pro athletes that have come out of the Hampton Roads area, it's unreal the numbers and "superstar" types

It really does suck arse. The AD at the University of Louisville made a big scene about not wanting to share the Yum Center with a pro team. Now they can't pay the bills at the Yum Center (a brand new pro quality facility) and it would've brought badly needed jobs/tourism dollars to the area. Pitino himself did everything he could to lobby against it (even contacting current pro owners and etc) despite the public wanting a team here.

It really does piss me off. I love the University of Kentucky and attending pro events would never take away from that. But the Kentucky Colonels were wildly successful here and there's not a pro team to speak of within a 1 1/2 drive.

worst traffic I have ever dealt with and I now live in NY

also where would they play? The Scope the Convocation center is nice, but ODU couldn't handle the crowds....I just can't think of any place in VA Beach

Tunnel traffic sucks, but it is nothing compared to a real city like NYC. They would build a new arena by the Convention Center supposedly.
