I wouldn't call it slamming. It's pretty dumb. They're blinded by something shiny and new but it doesn't do anything so different to justify the hype.

Microsoft isn't going anywhere. But Apple is taking a chunk out of there arse now with the iPhone and especially now with the iPad

How so? Microsoft hasn't been a major player in the smart phone or tablet market for some time now.

It's all Apple and Android devices with Microsoft picking up the rear for quite some time.

I would say they are buying pads in addition to laptops.

many of the same things, not all the same things. No turn by turn navigation for one. LTE for another. 1080p video, 8 MP pictures, etc.

Many aren't. They probably already have a laptop and after getting an iPad ( or tablet) they aren't in any rush to get a new laptop. They don't need it. Most people most of the time surf the web and check email. Something tablets are perfectly suited to do.

Again, doesn't justify the hype or price.

Actually, your phones data speed caps at 3.2 Mbps, the new iPhone's data speed will cap at 72 Mbps.

ETA: That is fine if you don't see the value for yourself, but don't act like there is no value for anyone.

It's $200 with an upgrade, right? You must not know much about hardware to think they are basically the same thing, but that's understandable. Like I said, you could likely throw that 3Gs on eBay and make enough money to upgrade to the 5 for free basically.

No it's b/c your mortgage is less than $200 a month

I'm kidding, but I never pay $400 for an iphone, I pay $200 and it's because I like having the newest technology. I work my butt off and make good money so I think I should be able to spend it how I please.

I think people paying 600-800 for a tablet with an ARM processor are crazy.

The price point in today's market for tablets with ARM SoC's in my oppinion should be at the 300-500 range.

Ever watch the car industry operate? Small changes to a car with the next model year and people get excited about it. Apple is just very good at what they do.

IMO it's dumber to get bent out of shape about what someone else is buying. Although it might be even more dumb to waste time discussing it on a messageboard when I've got work to do.

The are very good at one thing they do. They never tried nor intended to create the best phone, tablet, computer, or whatever on the market. What they did want to do is make it the "coolest" product on the market because that will sell more shite in the consumer market than specs/functionality ever will.

Their marketing dept. was successful at that I would say. Apple could probably shut down marketing right now and probably be OK
