USE AN INTERNATIONAL SYMBOL FOR PHONE CALL, AND GREEN/RED FOR START STOP! WHAT THE frick! THIS INJUSTICE WILL NOT STAND.

Apple would have sued other cereal companies for putting their product in boxes too.

Yeah, sure they borrow ideas - but so does everyone else. That's how culture grows.

Think of this - if apple can claim control over a 4x5 layout grid, with generic icons of generic ideas (come on, a phone for a phone - how daring of samsung to rip that off!), then they can control the entire internet and technology ecosystem.

That means frameworks like twitter bootstrap, 960 grid, etc. either can't exist, or they can control every site that utilizes their services and/or borrows ideas from them.

Trust me, as someone who knows he's probably the only person in this thread that works in the web & tech industry - apple winning this could be absolutely disastrous.

Well I don't know what the jury's gonna do. Who knows with juries? I just don't see how people can pull for some Govt sponsored ripoff everybody Koreans against an American company like Apple. That's like living in Baton Rouge and pulling against LSU.

well apple is a proprietary monster and they basically started this whole patent world war

the real issue isn't apple, it's patent law

it's a worldwide economy. consumers want the best products at the lowest price

Well, I don't care what country the company comes from. I don't care if there isn't one American car manufacturer really, unless that is telling me we have created an environment they cannot be productive in.

When I see that a foreign company is prevailing, it is usually one of two things:
1) They are better
2) We (our government, regulation, etc) is doing something to frick ourselves over.

Yup, and right again about patent law.

How is copying innovating? you serious? "copying" creates a baseline standard that all must adhere to. then for each to differentiate, they will have to become more creative to get the next "first"

Proofs in the pudding. Samsung isn't innovating at all. They seem to be doing just fine copying. So I think you are demonstrably wrong.

i think the quality of their products matters a lot more than very small examples of aesthetic "coying"

do you honestly think that using a clock icon that removes the alarm bells from the alarm clock is what is pushing samsung over the top?

If they aren't innovating, then what's their reward?

Apple gets trend setters, first-movers, samsung comes in and mops up laggards.

That's the price of being in business. Apple isn't hurting, that's for sure.

I'm actually on the fence about it. I certainly see both sides of the argument on it.

The fact that Apple and all of it's sheep are getting so butthurt over this is just painfully ironic... Do a little research into that "American company" you're so valiantly knighting for.

This is like someone trying to copyright the car.

Got 4 wheels, combustible engine, and a cab? Sorry no other company can make one.

re: Slide from Apple's closing arguments against Samsung.

Stop me if im wrong, but in your world, if a company sees that an obviously superior product in any way comes out, they just have to take it up the arse until they come up with an entirely new concept? Holy frick that's retarded. Why would any levelI headed human being look at something, say "wow that looks fantastic, in the spirit of fair play im gonna keep making my shitty typewriters until I come up with something better than computers"

Of course I exaggerate for effect

I'm irritated with this American company for wasting American taxpayer dollars trying a frivolous lawsuit.
