Wife and I went out of town this past weekend and we pulled in the driveway to a god awful smell...garage freezer went out and all my ground deer meat, backstrap, snapper, hog meat spoiled. Lesson learned. I process my own deer meat and the work that was involved is what pissed me off the most. Throwing that in the trash was the hardest thing I have ever done.

I know CSB, blah blah.. but I needed a place to vent.

That sucks.

I have an excellently working deep freezer and would be happy to store all your game and fish this year.

Sucks to lose all fo that, but at least deer season is close so you can re-supply.

BTW, exactly what lesson did you learn? Seems like something like that is kind of hard to foresee / plan for.

I had the same thing happen to me recently. The freezer was working fine but the Grand Kids didn't check the door after they helped themselves to some ice cream. I lost it all, fish deer everything in it thawed. Now I have an iced up freezer to defrost.

I learned if you put your freezer on back porch run extension cord inside to a regular receptacle. My outside receptacle tripped because they just do that sometimes and everything thawed out. Luckily I found it before it spoiled and the whole neighborhood ate good for the next few days.

I wish I could have caught it in time. Oh well. I will be on a mission this coming season. Bow season can not get here soon enough.
