Sugar Land, TX independent team. He's starting Saturday night, per Mark Bermans (fox26) Twitter feed.
L.O.L.! I suspect a sell out

I will pay to see this. He will throw a real first pitch that counts and then he will be relieved.

He is such an attention whore.
Go be like Brett Favre and coach High School baseball, dont take someone else's roster spot. Someone that is trying to make a team and earn a living...

Heard it on 610 minute ago. Doesn't make sense....most of their games are sold out anyway. Only tickets available are the outfield lawn tickets and the suite tickets at $50 each.

Maybe he just loves baseball and wants to pitch in a game?

I'm guessing he has to feed the monkey.

The skeeters have several higher profile ex-MLBers.
Scott Kazmir, Tim Redding, Jason Lane, Gary Majewski.
Apparently ex-MLBers and almost has-beens really have a fun time playing on that team. Plus -- I think they see the potential that the Astros could at any moment decide, "let's give this guy a try".
<yes, the last part was a joke, kind of>

why is he doing this?
Delays Hall of Fame eligibility by five years and lets other guys be the test candidates for steroids. By the time he's on the ballot, BBWAA will have clarified their views and will more likely to vote a steroid user in (you know, once Bonds is in).

does it count if he basically throws just one pitch in non-affiliated ball?
pretty sure Rickey played independent ball and it didn't affect his eligibility clock

Dude...it's Indy league ball...you don't 'earn a living in Indy League ball'.
That is playing for peanuts, unless you are a huge name like Roger.
There's nothing wrong with this. He used to throw some fast BP to his son Koby when he was in the Texas League, and that was within the past couple of years. He seems to have slimmed down. It's probably a good PR move to reconnect with the community a bit after his legal battles.

This will be a TOTAL fail. I hope the Yanks pick him up for the playoff run.........

I read that it doesn't affect his HOF eligibility
