Just made a bad arse one. French bread is pretty cheap, get your deli to cut up at least 1/4 lb. of roast beef, get some provolone cheese and some au jus mix (envelope/packet of it in the seasonings aisle) Saute up some onions, make your gravy, cut your bread in half, put a little mayo on it, pile on your beef and put the cheese on it. Broil your sandwich for a few minutes and you are good to go. Best lunch I've had in a while.

Now, did you dip the top of the bun?

Each individual bite, or the whole sandwhich?

French Dip is one of my all time favorite sandwiches. If I make it at home I like a strong au jus so I will cut the water by 1/3 when using the mix.
I also like to dip each bite.

If you are in BR, Tiger Paw on Coursey had a really good French Dip.

Try substituting french onion soup for au jus. I just realized a few days ago that one of my favorite poboy shops has been doing this for years.

McAllisters Deli has a great Au Jus Sandwich.
