I am thinking of doing some wade fishing off the beach in Dauphin Island this week. Is it worth it? I have some Gulp and various other options. I fish big lake often for specs and reds.

What is the best bait? Do I need live shrimp? Is it worth night fishing off the pier on the bay side?

General thoughts?

My boss is from dauphin island, and he went 2 weeks ago. He tore them up in the surf. I'll try to find out what he was using for you

Depends on what you are going for. If you fish over at the shoals or grants pass, falling tide, use top water - any bone color will do. Get on the west side of the small islands there. If you don't have a boat, go over to the golf couse and try it. Or you can walk way down on sand island and try the gulf side, get a lot of blue fish and some Spanish.
