Advantage flea medicine

Any truth that the bugs have adapted to the medicine? A few ppl told me that and I keep seeing more and more of these frickers. Should a be looking to make a change?

I've used Frontline on our cat for the last few years with good success, but this year it just didn't work longer than 2 weeks. I read reviews online that wondered if they changed their formula because others were having the same problems.
Switched to Advantage two months ago, and it's worked well so far. I talked to someone at Petco (take that FWIW) who said it's been a really bad year for fleas and Advantage seemed to be working better for most customers.
Point is, I've had the opposite problem as you, so maybe one type stops working well after a while?

Any of that drop on crap that goes in between the shoulder blades is utter garbage, at least as far as fleas are concerned. Fleas effing suck. I hate the bastards as they are impossible to contain for very long.
If you want something that works, and trust me I've tried everything under the sun and have owned dogs all my life.....get Comfortis. It's a once a month tablet. If a flea bites your dog, the flea is dead within minutes. That also kills the life cycle since it kills so quick.
Trust me, it's the tits when it comes to flea control.

Comfortis is the best shite ever. My backyard is infested with fleas and not one of them has been on my dog since Instarted with it.

It's absolutely unreal how well it works on fleas. I've tried kennel dip, flea and tick shampoo (the good stuff), Advantage, and Frontline. All of that shite sucks balls. It never controlled the FLEAS on Mom & Dad's dogs either.
To tell you how damn good Comfortis is....was at deer camp this Spring and ventured over to my cousin's house. He has his black and tan in his pen over there and the grass was a little grown up. I took my Pugs (yes, I have Pugs) over there and fleas bombarded their asses. They were literally crawling all over them (could see the fleas going everywhere in their coat).
Anyway, scooped up my two Pugs and put 'em in the back of the truck. By the time I left there and got back to my deer camp, not one flea was remaining on them. Comfortis is absoeffinglutely bad arse stuff when it comes to killing fleas; kills them ultra fast also. I literally mean that I have NEVER had anything kill fleas for a very long period.
I know I sound like a commercial, but I've literally battled fleas for years until I found Comfortis last year.

Comfortis is the kitties titties, but i'm all about trifexis now.. it is the ultimate flee preventive, heartworm preventive and de-wormer
and you can't get the shite at wal-mart, gonna need a Rx.. well, technically the vet gotta see your animal within the past year

Started working within hours of taking the pill. Fleas bite and immediately die. First treatment, Vet told fiancée to reschedule cleaning until the next day as all the fleas would be dead in 24 hours.

Point is, I've had the opposite problem as you, so maybe one type stops working well after a while?
I know this is true with ants and also worms in goats. It's highly recommended to alternate ant poison/de-wormers to minimize this.

For us up here in N. Bammer it's the dang ticks that are so bad. No fleas to speak of...but have found lots to ticks on the dogs...and a few crawling on me.

Trifexis is exact same active as comfortis for fleas, just with a dose of heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention added in. So no need to "rotate" as flea active is the same. Its just a matter of using a combination product or giving heartworm and flea separately. Using trifexis as combo product is more cost effective.
For what it's worth, trifexis and comfortis have changed the way veterinarians deal w/ fleas, I have not recommended anything other than one of these products in years.
