Bow questions

I have never shot a bow but will be getting a new bow soon. I have read several threads on the OB about several options in bows and have a few questions.
1. Where can I test a Hoyt and/or Mathews? Their sites list Bowie and Spillway but I think those two locals only carry parts and not actual bows.
2. Any recs on a salesman at either of those two who would be the best help for a newbie?
3. Any other store in south LA or MS recommendation?
Thanks!

Where abouts do you live and play?
I'm not sure but doesn't Bowie outfitters carry bows. I'm sure I heard that here before.

If you ever go to Jackson county I can send you to a guy I've known for 20 years who owns a shop.

Both of those places sell bows.
Shoot a bunch and see which one feels best for you (in your price range, of course)

I do not think anyone around BTR carries inventory of Hoyt or Mathews, only parts - could be wrong. Cabelas and Bass Pro do not carry those two. I may end up with a PSE or Bear but I would like to test a Hoyt and Mathews as well.

Call them and ask if they have them.

I can guarantee someone around BR carries them.

I would swear I've seen both those hanging on the wall at Bowies

Bowie carries Mathews....Don't let name brands sucker you in though lots of good companies making bows now at competitive prices. I just bought a G5 quest last week and love it. Shop around and get a feel for all makes and models

Thanks guys. I am going to hit Spillway Sportsman and Bowie and test some bows. I may even go to BP and Cabelas but would prefer to go with a locally owned store. I could care less about the brand, just want to test a wide range.
Anyone have a name they can recommend at Bowie? Again, I have never shot a bow.

Go to Bowies. They have every brand and will let you shoot everyone of them if you want. Top notch sales force. One stop shop.

Don't get hung up on brand names. Shoot the bows in your price range, and buy the one that fits your needs the best.
Another thing to keep in mind...since you don't do your own tuning, you might want to buy your bow from a dealer that is experienced in tuning the brand you decide to buy. A well tuned bow alleviates a lot of problems and unnecessary troubleshooting.
