Some of what you say has some truth, i am a addict, got clean over five years ago, smoked pot for about 15 years, i am 36 and cocaine in all its forms did me in.

Anything done in habit that takes you away from your responsibilities would be considered a unhealthy addiction. Whether its video games, fishing, sex, work etc. however these are behavior problems, and can be overcome through self discipline and a will to fight.

If its cocaine however, its not just behavioral, you are talking about the most mentally addictive drug out there (due to serotonin shutdown dopamine reuptake etc), VERY powerful addiction and in this context would be a physical addiction.

If its pills or opiates of any kind it's a physical addiction moreso then mental. Being a recovering cocaine addict myself, the though of using 5 years later and I still want to shite my pants and have trouble breathing (you're body thinks its actually about to get high)

Pot is harmfull only in the previous example. Basically harmless. Tyrans problem is tyran.

As crazy as it sounds, if addiction is an illness and he's getting treatment this fall, I don't understand why he couldn't get a medical redshirt. Is there any legal precedence here?

TM has not tweeted in five days now.
Five days!

Shite has definitely hit the fan and I'm hoping he's taking everything very seriously.

Keep up the good fight, man.

A lot of people poo-pooing rehab "for weed" are confusing rehab and detox.

Physically addicting drugs require a detox period to break the addiction, but then there's the rehab period where you have to learn how to change your lifestyle to avoid the bad habits that got you into trouble. Based on everything that's being reported, this is what TM7 will benefit from most. Best of luck to him.

You know what....frick LSU football. This kid, whether he's serious about it or not, is taking a road I never would have expected. He could enter the draft and get paid...or could play for a small school. He apparently elects to do. Neither...but rather to go. Somewhere to address his problem head on. How can anybody on Earth criticize him for this??? Hell, this is an incredibly mature and smart decision. If he can hld true,I now believe he should get a shot.

It obviously was. Thats why he was so crazy and good on the field. Luckily he had a helmet on so he wouldn't eat peoples faces.

If he turns his life around, gets clean and then returns to LSU and is allowed to play next year it will be an amazing story. ESPN will be drooling for that story. That being said, most important thing is that the kid just gets his life in order. Good luck, Honey Badger.

Even though I thought what Tyrann did was incredibly stupid and was extremely disappointed in him, I have regained a ton of respect for him after hearing this news. Instead of running off to a small school to turn pro, he's getting his shite together and dealing with his issues like a man. I wish you all the best and am rooting for you in getting your life in order. Geaux Tyrann

Good call for TM7. I will keep him im my prayers, not for what he has done or can do for LSU, but for him as a person. This could turn out to be a really great story, and I bet Les Miles had a lot to do with this choice.

I do think this is awesome too. But don't get carried away, doctors, lawyers, whores and hookers. Drugs don't care. Just because someone stands to lose a family, millions of dollars or their life even means very little if anything with someone on a tear (not saying tyran is). It's going to be very tough for him, I have all the faith he can succeed, but he has been around so much negativity his whole life the odds are not very good.

I have been to many rehabs and behavior modifications. They never worked, when I had enough I quit. Clean for over five years. Sometimes it takes a perfect storm, I met an unbelievable women, got married and got put on the right medication that almost killed my cravings. I get real sad when I see the poor, or young hoods with nothing. No role models around and no one to take care of them. They don't tand a chance for the most part. Tyran has more then enough support but that never determines the it come. It does help though.
