I own a small company that no longer needs me on a daily basis. It also doesn't bring in "enough" money but it does bring in the required amount. I am interested in starting something completely new but I have no idea and I am 40. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks!!

So the business is self sustaining?

Use your free time for another venture, find a "real job" or re-invest your energy into the business and make it grow so it beings in more than "enough" money.

Thanks! My degree from the GREAT university of LSU is Mech. Engineering. Spent first almost decade being a design engineer or sales engineer. Then started web dev firm 12 years ago. The last 12 years have been mostly in the area of sales, project mgmt, and everything a business needs. Time for me to move on and be a part of the biz as more of an observer and help with direction. I will continue to put energy into the company but would rather spend payroll on more skilled programmers/developers than me. Thanks!!

My suggestion may be slightly less sexy than you are looking for, but I still stand by it.

I would fail so hard at politics...I am not a good liar and have a conscious...not required currently for that field.

This may not be your cup of tea if you aren't a people person, but anyone with a good head on their shoulders seems to do well in the consumer lending business.

Payday lending is very profitable and requires less capital, but is in the crosshairs of government intervention.

Consumer lending consists of making small ($500-$1000) loans to the "underbanked" community. You can get 17-25% interest on your loans and default rates are 2-5%. I have to be careful how much I post on here about it, due to disclosure rules, but I would suggest you look into it.

no joke, I have actually talked with a few friends about this

It usually doesn't get very far, but it's definitely something that peaked my interest

I know a lot about the industry. It's really a great business to be in.

Not trying to be a jerk, but just FYI, it's piqued.

bc, do you have a client base in either law enforcement, health care, big box retail or hospitality?

If so, let me know. I have a startup soft dev company that could use a channel marketing partner.
