What are the transfer rules if TM goes to McNeese or any FCS school this year and then if elligible, he wants transfer back to LSU next year? Does he still have to sit out a year?
Sorry if already discussed or posted.

Yes he would have to sit out after transferring back to LSU.

The Giants already cut him.

In a story that rightfully didn't get much national publicity, Jackson, an undrafted free agent in 2012, was cut by the New York Giants on Sunday

That is not true. He did stay clean. He just did not want to be here and bailed without graduating.

Really, I always thought you could transfer from FCS to FBS without sitting out a year.

Yeah but probably not if you start out at a FBS school.
ETA: I'd like for someone to clear this up, I really don't know.

Not in football or basketball, except under graduate student exception.
Can transfer from community college to FBS and play immediately.

You can transfer DOWN without sitting out.
If you transfer UP or laterally, you must sit out one year

Cam Newton went from Florida to JUCO and back to Auburn I think

Mett was JUCO, not FCS.

I guess I was thinking a JC was FCS.

I thought the same but when you think about it FBS schools recruit JUCO players but not FCS players. Must be the reason.

The distinction is between 2yr and 4yr colleges. JCs are 2 year colleges and you can transfer between them and 4 year colleges without penalty as long as you are qualified. You can transfer down to FCS or lower without penalty, but you cannot transfer back without sitting out.
