I'm heading to Rue 127 Friday for my girlfriend's birthday and have never been. I've searched through all the threads that have already covered people's thoughts and the just of it I've put below. I'm looking for recommendations of actual dishes people have had rather than their thoughts on the layout, service, lighting etc. Also included is their current menu if it helps refresh some people's minds. Thanks in advance!

Review Summaries

They were out of the scallops, which was quite disappointing. 9 pm on a non-holiday/football weekend.. you should have scallops.**

Onion Soup w/ sourdough croutons, gruyere, beef broth $8 -- On the bland side but the portions were right. Broth could definitely use some work.

Iceberg Wedge w/ bacon lardons, tomato concasse, Roaring 40s bleu cheese, croutons, parley, herbed buttermilk dressing $7 -- This was delicious. But I can't give a place too many accolades based on a wedge salad. Very well done though.

Pan Seared Puppy Drum w/ Prince Edward Island mussels, frisee, bacon lardons, ruby red grapefruit, poblano pepper and orange broth $23 -- This was a subtle and elegant dish. Nice depth of flavor and very clean and bright.

Crispy Salmon w/ Panko breadcrumbs, dijon, herbs, roasted vegetable couscous, lemon butter $20 -- The lady had this in place of the scallops and was not very happy. Salmon was overcooked and the couscous was under. Lemon butter sauce also left her wanting.

Skipped dessert. Also had a forgettable bottle of Malbec.

Love the roasted chicken, blue cheese lettuce wedge, but was less impressed with the famed fried cupcakes. It's a 9/10 restaurant. Enjoy.

I'd reccomend the duck entree or the puppy drum. The rissotto appetizer changes, but I've had it before and they do a good job.

GF got the porkchops - Huge portion and I thought it was pretty good....for what it was.
I got the duck beast. It was good, but nothing special.
Went with the fried cupcakes. Again, good, but I don't really like pumpkin. The dipping sauces were awesome though.

The Drum, yes the skin was crispy. that was the only dish I found to be above average. the iceberg wedge is decent too (but who can't make that?). the puppy drum dish benefits from its elegance and subtle flavor profile. if you're looking for bold flavors and richness then Rue 127 probably isn't for you.
- the French onion soup is crap
- the salmon dish... I've had better cooked food at Waffle House

I had a delightful dinner there.
I got the Fillet.

Both the scallops and risotto were lukewarm - and the risotto had too much salt - very odd to have a lot of that in a risotto dish. It was also bland - risotto is supposed to be creamy and rich - not light or unflavorful. I'm no scallop expert, but according to my sister, they were served inside a tortellini that was very low-grade - and caused it to taste pretty nasty.
We enjoyed the bread enough to want some more, though
Then...everything else was served. Leek soup, two orders of mussels, gumbo, and the pork chop.
Took one bite each, and discovered that everything was lukewarm or cold - save for the french fries served with the mussels. And again - the pork chop was overloaded with salt, and so were the fries.

I didn't have the greatest experience with my food there (subpar risotto, undercooked duck) but I overall it wasn't a bad experience.

Great pork chop and scallops.

I'm really high on Rue 127 in Mid-City right now. I think it's the best new restaurant in the city. Entrees are 17-32, you can definitely do three courses there. Make sure you get the fried cupcakes for dessert. Best new dessert in town. Yeah, I'm going to recommend Rue 127 to you right now. Reservations will be hard to get, but try.

I can't comment then.

Kidding..go with the sweetbreads, scallops or duck breast.

That's what I got the two times I went. Can I rant about the other things now?
