The Gift could be Stannis demanding the land for his knights and that playing out. It could also be The Gift of the reopening of the fighting pits given by Danaerys to her husband. Although it is usually episode 9 when the Shihizzle hits the fan.
Oh wait, isn't it called The Gift when a faceless man kills someone?

Yes so it could refer to Arya's first kill as an apprentice. But also could refer to Jon settling the free folk in The Gift

quote:Didn't even think of that. Given where Arya is in her story, that is a really good point.

I think E9 may be titled "For the Watch" or something dealing with Cersei's penance walk.

So we think Jon "dies" episode 10?

It's been done before. Frank Herbert wrote the first three Dune books at the same time.

HBO has a marathon on today. I'm rewatching and was thinking about the dragon eggs that Illyrio gave Dany. Do you think he knew it was possible for her to hatch them or just a symbolic gesture? I wonder which plan Illyrio and Varys think will succeed.

Symbolic gesture. Illyrio and Varys are working together and if they knew the eggs would hatch into dragons they would have given them to Aegon
Posted on 3/22/15 at 12:56 pm to Cockopotamus
Does that mean they think Aegon really is the heir and not a Blackfyre then?
Posted on 3/22/15 at 1:09 pm to Aubie Spr96
I don't think it matters to them if he is (f)Aegon or Aegon (I've always felt he is not legit). What matters is if they can push him as legit to get him support so he can take the throne.

That's why Varys said that "Power resides in where men believe it resides". It only matters what people believe. Look at Renly. Everyone knows that he can't be king ahead of Stannins by all laws of Westeros. But He was able to raise an army of 100K troops because he had charisma, charm, and would be a "good" king.

So I'm sure this has been brought up before but here is an article that is pretty interesting..
Game of Thrones show will spoil the books

Areo Hotah and Ellaria Sand.
Kinda glad they made Hotah a soul brother... It fits.

I thought Hotah was black in the books?

He is from one of the Free Cities I believe.

He suppose to be white, with a beard.

Maybe The Gift is LF giving Winterfell to Sansa or something along those lines? Probably pretty unlikely though. I think belle is probably right about the reference to the Gift belonging to the Night's Watch.
The GIFT is the land between the Wall and the Stark's land or the North territories. It is what John gives to the Wildlings after the Battle of Castle Black.
ETA: and a faceless man's assassination is also termed a gift. Nice catch. So we probably have 2 of the plot points for that episode.
